Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling | R-Squared Comicz

Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling | R-Squared Comicz | CF Art Dept "stuff" | Scoop.it

Everyone is a storyteller. These 22 rules from Pixar really open doors for all of us. Some of the rules that stand out for me as a writer:

#3 Trying for theme is important, however, you won't see what the story is about until you're at the end of that story. Got it? Now rewrite. Yes Yes Yes

#7 Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard. Get yours working up front. (I tried writing the beginning and building on the story. Never thought of this -- cool!)

#13 Give your characters opinions. A character being passive or malleable is easy for you as a writer, but it's poison to your audience. (so true)

#18 You have to know yourself, and know the difference between doing your best & being fussy. Story is testing, not refining. (now why don't we have kids write stories instead of testing them all the time?)

Okay - I'm going to print this out---post it on my wall and read this while I write. Use this with your students. I'm writing a book for educators so some of this works. On the side I'm writing a murder mystery. Really! I got the characters, the idea, the plot but just cannot pull it together. These rules really help!

Don't know how to draw, but want your drawings look like artsy sketch? Try Scribbler Too! It's only been 50 minutes and I'm in love this. This website really makes drawing interesting and addicting. Yet I don't know what I just drew and what does my drawing mean, but I'm really enjoying the process of creating. Just don't get lost in there and forget what you should be doing.

40 Examples Of Web Design Sketches And Wireframes

40 Examples Of Web Design Sketches And Wireframes | CF Art Dept "stuff" | Scoop.it

Sketching is not a new technique and now it has been widely used in the web designing process as well. By using the sketching technique in your web design, you can create a feeling of personal touch, and in this way you can give your website a personal touch. Sketching is the basic and most important phase of any design work. Whenever, designers get stuck in the middle of a design process, they take a piece of paper and a pencil and start sketching whatever comes to their mind. Sketching technique helps the designers to jot down their thoughts and ideas.

10 Reasons How Bad Infographic can Damage Your Business

10 Reasons How Bad Infographic can Damage Your Business | CF Art Dept "stuff" | Scoop.it

I do think that infographics are over-rated.  Yet, I see the value in them for a quick review, over-view or a teaser to get me to want to read the research.  I do also see SEO value because they often get shared more rapidly than some of the other deeper research.

One thing is crucial though, Good data, with bad design equals a terrible infographic that will do more harm than good.
