How to Stay Totally Focused on What Matters Most

How to Stay Totally Focused on What Matters Most | CEO's Almanac | Scoop.it
Your calendar should reflect your business priorities. Here's how I made that happen--and you can too.
As a social media entrepreneur and author, I get contacted by dozens of people each week who want my help or want to work with me.
David Keuning's insight:

In Tokyo I told salespeople and vendors that I could give them 30 minutes... but it had to be between 8 and 10 am Monday through Friday.  I figured I could afford those two hours (waiting for the caffeine to kick in) to meet with people that might have a good idea for my business.

Self-Confidence and Your Personal Brand

Self-Confidence and Your Personal Brand | CEO's Almanac | Scoop.it

Self-confidence, while hard to build, is a key component to any personal branding. In nearly any type of business, successful job search or fulfilling career, when we are confident in our personal brands through a strong sense of self-worth, our capabilities are as limitless as our imagination.

3 Tips for Becoming More Self-Confident

Now that we know exactly how beneficial belief in ourselves can be and what it can do for our personal and professional branding, it is important to touch on tips for heightening one’s self-confidence.

1. Speak to yourself in a positive manner. When we have positive, encouraging internal dialogue, that builds a sense of our self-worth. We begin to come across to others as positive and encouraging, thus making our personal brand more lucrative and, in a sense, more self fulfilling.

2. Think of problems as challenges rather than as life-ending events. Companies want to hire problem solvers; the American consumer wants to buy based on reliability and durability.

3. Practice. Nobody can become self-assured overnight. It takes practice and looking at ourselves in a manner that does not hinder our performance or our willingness to take risks, but rather increases the odds that we will live out the career goals that we set out to.

David Keuning's insight:

Yes!  I like this.  A good method to "Practice" is to take your concern or worry and use that to create a positive and affirming statement. If you are struggling with being a confident leader then a positive statement might be, for example, "I am a capable and caring leader who works hard to serve the company I work for".  Write the statement down.  Read it before you go to bead.  And again when you get up in the morning.

'What Have You Accomplished This Week?'

'What Have You Accomplished This Week?' | CEO's Almanac | Scoop.it
This question will help you and your employees gauge where you're at today (instead of where you're headed). Here's how.
David Keuning's insight:

I frequently ask this question to my CEOs: What was your top accomplishment over the last 30 days? At issue is the fact that most of us get caught up in the weeds and forget to think strategically.  Am I really moving towards accomplishment of my goals?  Over the last 30 days have I made progress on that front?  It's a good question to ask.

David Keuning's insight:

Awesome questions!   Are your sales people asking them?  Here they are:

Who else is selling to you? What priorities are higher than the problem we're addressing here?If you had to make a decision today, who would you choose? What might prevent you from doing business with me and my company?Do I have an equal chance of winning your business? If you don't make a final decision by the date you mentioned, what will happen?
