College Search - Syracuse University - SU | CE Project - Engineering, Job and College Prep | Scoop.it
Syracuse University: Get trusted and up to date information about Syracuse University financial aid, admission, SAT scores, college majors, deadlines, and more at collegeboard.org.
PC's insight:

Though set in New York, Syracuse University, my final 100% match, can be seen with quite a lot of green to offer much like the 3 other schools. It's said to be in an urban location, but from the looks of it, the campus has a natural setting that's easy on the eyes as well. The campus does have close to 20-thousand students like Cornell, so it is on the bigger side, but it's nice to have size options for such a specific set of college criteria.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: Get trusted and up to date information about Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute financial aid, admission, SAT scores, college majors, deadlines, and more at collegeboard.org.
PC's insight:

RPI was the first school in my college book that I skimmed over and immediately felt sounded awesome. It may not be the top school in the US, but features like providing laptops and wireless cards for freshmen connected to me and things I value (technology, specifically computers!). Besides that, the book went on to say several facilities, while older-looking on the outside, were state-of-the-art inside.

On College Board's college finder, with all my criteria already picked, including having Economics, Architecture, and Engineering all set as high priorities, RPI coincidentally showed up, a 100% match!

Find Colleges - Campus Visits: Before You Go

Find Colleges - Campus Visits: Before You Go | CE Project - Engineering, Job and College Prep | Scoop.it
Planning to visit the colleges on your list? Learn what to do in advance to make the most of the experience.
PC's insight:

This site helped me get set for my college tours in the Seattle area. Some of the tours were titled specifically as to what would be covered, but one tour went through a majority of the campus, and it was useful to checkout the school's site (and emailed information) to know what I would see, therefore lending a hand to me figuring out what parts of the tour could be of extra interest to me before the tour even happened.

This scoop was selected because it's from Cornell University, but also because it gives some really useful information about interviews. The PDF goes through the different types of interviews, interview skills, preparation for questioning, and questions asked; there is plenty I never considered or even heard about, but it's conveniently concise, so I'll definitely bookmark this for future reference.

College Search - Carnegie Mellon University | CE Project - Engineering, Job and College Prep | Scoop.it
Carnegie Mellon University: Get trusted and up to date information about Carnegie Mellon University financial aid, admission, SAT scores, college majors, deadlines, and more at collegeboard.org.
PC's insight:

Carnegie Mellon was yet another 100% match and after reading more about it, I'm starting to better understand why. Like RPI, the social life is just a bit off kilter, which I can easily accommodate! Besides that, it's another suburban school by Pittsburgh, which is a thriving city, a good sidekick to a college based off on its own by a little. Population-wise Carnegie Mellon bridges the gap between RPI and Cornell, with a total of about 11-thousand students.

College Search - Cornell University

College Search - Cornell University | CE Project - Engineering, Job and College Prep | Scoop.it
Cornell University: Get trusted and up to date information about Cornell University financial aid, admission, SAT scores, college majors, deadlines, and more at collegeboard.org.
PC's insight:

Cornell University was another 100% match on the College Finder. I remember visiting UW and feeling overwhelmed because the campus felt like a city in itself; fortunately, that campus is home to what I now know to be at least 29,000 students, and Cornell University is definitely not quite that scale, only getting close to 20-thousand. It is also suburban rather smack dab in the middle of a city like Seattle, and my college book higlights that it has a very naturally, beautiful campus, similar to RPI.

10 Ways to Learn About Colleges Online

10 Ways to Learn About Colleges Online | CE Project - Engineering, Job and College Prep | Scoop.it
When you're searching for colleges, there's a lot you can learn by exploring college websites.
PC's insight:

This site is incredibly valuable because physical college tours can not always be done for every college interest, so knowing how to get the inside scoops on a college through the internet is crucial. Big Future has a few photo tours of colleges/universities, but I have a feeling looking beyond College Board and scouring individual college/universitiy sites will eventually yield information College Board has yet to compile.

PC's insight:

I scooped this checklist because it lists just about every possible step in the process to getting accepted into a college. It's also nice that the checklist already put the steps in what seems to be the proper order, time-wise; I've known about some of the steps listed for a while now, but another obstacle to getting started was knowing which to do first.
