Duotech CCTV: What is the relationship between Car Insurance Premium and In-Car DVR Security Camera?

Orville Mitchell's insight:

Because of the challenges of insecurity in the present society, the IN-Car DVR is now a tool for car owners who would like to keep their vehicle under surveillance against theft or accidents. Yet, most people have not come to appreciate its importance as a security and safety facility for their cars.

Case Study,

Researchers have revealed the most expensive places in the UK to buy car insurance - and the cheapest. Shockingly Birmingham takes all of the top ten postcodes for the priciest premiums, and the area around James Turner Street - where Channel 4's 'Benefits Street' were filmed - is high on the list.

So where else fares badly, and why?

The top 10 most expensive postcodes are:

B9 Bordesley Green

B10 Small Heath

B11 Sparkhill

B66 Smethwick and Sandwell

B8 Washwood Heath and Saltley

B21 Handsworth

B12 Balsall Heath and Sparkbrook

B19 Lozells and Birchfield

B5 Digbeth

B18 Winston Green and Hockley - home to James Turner Street

Overall Birmingham was named the most expensive city for car insurance - followed by Liverpool, East London, Manchester, North London, South East London, Bradford and Sheffield.

Why?

Insurers calculate the cost of premiums based on how much risk they believe the car and the driver pose. If they pose a great deal of risk, the insurer will not particularly want to insure them - so will charge more. If they think the car is relatively safe, they will charge a lower price to win the business.

Birmingham city centre – Britain’s whiplash fraud capital has the highest car insurance premiums in the whole of the UK, according to new research.

All of the worst 10 postcodes for car insurance in UK are in Birmingham and most of these are within a few miles of the city’s notorious Benefits Street – James Turner Street.

Insurers say Britain’s second city also has the highest number of bogus whiplash claims, which add £90 to every motorist’s bill.

In a survey of all UK cities by SmartWitness Incident Cameras (suppliers of Britain’s most popular vehicle journey recorders) it was revealed that Birmingham’s motor insurance premiums have shot up and are now seven times higher than Aberdeen, the UK’s cheapest city for car insurance. The price of insuring a BMW 3 Series in Bordesley Green, Birmingham B9 is £1,101.62 per year, compared with Aberdeen city centre which comes in at only £157 for the same car.

Overall Birmingham has more than a fifth of the worst 100 postcodes for motor insurance premiums in the country – 22 in total.

SmartWitness managing director Simon Marsh said: “Part of the reason for the sharp increase for the car insurance premiums is that Birmingham has become the capital of whiplash claims in the UK. The six top areas for Third Party Injury (TPI) claims are all in Birmingham and it’s no great surprise that those neighbourhoods mirror very closely those with the highest premiums in our survey.”

Other UK cities with high numbers of TPI claims are Bradford with four of the top 20 worst postcodes, Manchester next with three, and Liverpool and London have one each.

What is the benefit for InCar DVR Security Camera related to car insurance premium?

Reports that car Crash for Cash Scams are still on the increase in the UK. Cars are without any doubt a serious asset to the owner - protect them along with your no claims bonus by installing a camera or cameras.

The IN-Car DVR camera that could cut your car insurance costs One insurer has announced that it will be discounting premiums for drivers who have a IN-Car DVR recorder.

One cost to balance here is the discount on your car insurance policy against the outlay of buying a IN-Car DVR Recorder.

However, it’s also an investment that could possibly save you hundreds of pounds on rises in your insurance premiums and excess payments if you were to have an accident and lose your no-claims bonus. Since the discount is percentage based, those with higher premiums will actually find the cameras paying for themselves faster.

Questions you should ask yourself before installation CCTV system on your business premises

CCTV Installation, CCTV Systems, CCTV Birmingham, CCTV Access and Viewing

Orville Mitchell's insight:

The primary question you should ask yourself is Do I really need CCTV then How will CCTV assist me or the Police in managing or reducing crime or anti-social behaviour at the premises?

If CCTV is definitely your preference, formulate an "Operational Requirement" (O.R.) which outlines exactly what the camera(s) are required to see, how it will be recorded and how the data will be stored and ultimately copied to data disc etc for evidential purposes.

Do I need to display warning signs if I have a security CCTV system on a business?

What am I allowed to point the cameras at?

How long should I keep recordings?

What happens when I ask for a quote?

Choose 3 or more CCTV Contractors who will specify and quote for a system. It will be your decision, which quotes best meets your requirements, and it will be advantageous to have a contractor prove the system prior to awarding a contract.

What Happens if I Catch Someone on Camera?

Do the cameras light up at night?

What's the difference between 540 and 700 TVL?

What's the difference between CIF and D1 Recording?

Do you have cameras that can see in the dark?

CCTV outweigh the negative

Orville Mitchell's insight:

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is a widely discussed topic within criminology which concerns different issues such as crime prevention and control. The focus of this research project is to outline the different functions of CCTV and establish how effective this system is.  The research used within this project is a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods.  Semi-Structured Interviews were used to collect rich in-depth data from people who had experience with CCTV and surveys were used to gather opinions from the general public. The aim of this project is to answer the question ‘Does CCTV work?’ by assessing and analysing the data collected. This research produced a number of key findings regarding CCTV in relation to crime prevention and detection, public safety, human rights and privacy. The data produced from this research project suggests that CCTV is a complex system however the positive aspects and functions of CCTV outweigh the negative.

Duotech CCTV: Advantages of using a IN-CAR DVR SECURITY CAMERA

Duotech CCTV: Advantages of using a IN-CAR DVR SECURITY CAMERA | cctv | Scoop.it
Orville Mitchell's insight:

The term "DVR" means digital video recorder. Here are top 3 benefits you can derive from a car DVR if it is installed in your car

Because of the challenges of insecurity in the present society, the Car DVR is now a tool for car owners who would like to keep their vehicle under surveillance against theft or accidents. Yet, most people have not come to appreciate its importance as a security and safety facility for their

cars.

Here are top 3 benefits you can derive from a car DVR if it is installed in your car.

First and foremost, it is advisable to get the DVR system for all vehicles, most especially emergency vehicles like taxis or cabs since they pick and drop people throughout the day. If you unknowingly pick up an alcoholic passenger at a late night time, you may be in a dangerous situation. Nonetheless, if the digital video recorder is already installed in your car, it will offer you extra security. You will be able to document the complete events that may transpire between you and your passenger, if peradventure you face any threatening behaviour from such a passenger. This will be good evidence for you to defend yourself during the investigations of law enforcement agencies.

The Car DVR can also be used to address the claims of accidents. The system is being used today to record all the events of a journey so that if an accident happens, the footage of the video will serve as evidence. The documentations of the camera play a vital role in protecting you from wrong accusations on the cause of the accident; it also prevents the possibility of high claims from your insurance company. The documentations of the DVR system consist of the condition of the road, the traffic load, the weather condition at the time the accident takes place, and the behavior or act of the driver prior to the crash. These are useful for investigations.

The device is quite beneficial too as regards giving you the consciousness of safe driving. You will want to drive carefully, knowing that you're being monitored by the camera. So, it helps to develop a good driving habit in compliance with traffic rules and regulations. By so doing, the chances of having an auto crash coupled with its attending insurance claims will be greatly reduced.

DVR systems come in a wide variety of small sizes, thus making it easy to mount them on your vehicle's windshield or the dashboard. A car DVR is ideal for trucks, cars or any other kind of vehicle
