Well, if that was true, so much of what we enjoy right now would be impossible. But I am sure there exist research that is very exaggerated.

Assume that there is one published scientific research which is false. The next research is highly likely to cite the first research. Then, it is a false propagation. That is, there no longer exists any true research because there is no such research paper that does not cite any previous research.
