The Pessimist: "How to Prepare for Major Life Changes"

The Pessimist: "How to Prepare for Major Life Changes" | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
The odds are good that you’ll be undergoing a dramatic life change sometime in the next few years, if not even sooner. And while major changes are always a little scary, they don’t have to stress you out.

Via Marilyn Armstrong
Sharla Shults's insight:

The title produces a good hook. However, the article is sizzlin' but not so sure it is in the right perspective. I sense quite a bit of sarcasm when in fact, there is a lot of despair within our nation, in fact the world, today. Should the last resort be Despair.com? What compassion can one find within a dot com? Should you read this article, be sure to also read the comments. Sometimes that section is more eye-opening than the article itself. Read and be your own judge...

Who needs a shrink when you can turn to Despair.com?

Rosemary J. Adkins's curator insight, January 31, 2013 11:15 AM

Advise is always nice but perhaps you should try listening to your own inside voice on what's right. I see no way to prepare for the unknown except for retirement but life's changes for health and love are very unpredictable. While health insurnace prepares for those issues, what about love? Is there any insurance? It's just called LIFE.

If Pets Had Thumbs | catnipoflife | Scoop.it

If you have ever injured your thumb, you have had a first hand experience as to what an important role that digit plays on the human hand.

Raindrops & Rainbows

Raindrops & Rainbows | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
All across America, the world in fact, is indescribable beauty often referred to as visions of grandeur. Each day presents itself in living color with sights, sounds, even smells that tempt and tease innermost emotions. Skies may be crystal blue and cloudless, or dark and dreary with hints of an impending storm. Even within the storm lies beauty…a calm at the end of which one may be lucky enough to sight a rainbow.
Sharla Shults's insight:
May each rainbow sparkle with the seven colors of the rainbow: strength, joy, sunshine, harmony, faith, wisdom and spirituality.” ~SLS

Free Write Friday #39: Image Prompt - Tell his story…

Grandpa was a hardworking man. He toiled the earth, tilling, planting and sowing crops to be gathered and preserved by his loving wife of over 60 years. They met as mere children. Grew up together, married, and reared half a dozen kids while raising ten times or more as many chickens. Home was a cabin hewed by logs cut from his own timberland. Firewood was chopped every evening before sunset.

Sharla Shults's insight:

At catnip you will read my thoughts which are just beginning thoughts working themselves backwards as I wrote the last paragraph first.

There is never a wasted moment when you are a cat. I know because... I am smart, not lazy. . . just simply devoted to relaxation. I love to hunt. That's when I am the cutest. A cat must do what a cat must do.

Wintertime vs. Winter Time

Wintertime vs. Winter Time | catnipoflife | Scoop.it

Awakenings being catnip’s sister site often appears here through Scoop.it! Only a small portion of those posts are scooped. It is always hoped each of catnip’s visitors clicks the link for the entire post since bits of historical trivia allow time to embrace the past, empower the present, enrich the future for you and America. Yesterday as I was working on Awakenings I realized this post IS catnip. So, if you are followers or visitor of both sites, this one will lift you up twice for the entire post appears here.

When you look to the wrong sky--Skye | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
ೋღ♥ ღೋ Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

I have tried this dieting thing many times both as a non-Christian and a Christian. Each time I would lose the weight and feel great; but my eyes, throughout and after, were completely on self. I was so focused on Skye that I was not looking to the sky at all; I was definitely not praising God or seeking His help.  I wanted to look good for me and for all those that would be amazed and awed by ME, ME, ME!   Yuck.

Sharla Shults's insight:

catnipoflife announces a new blog you need to visit. It is Faith, Food, and Friends by Skye. Skye is very adventurous with this being her third in the blogosphere! She is a very inspirational person, writer of poetry and excellent photographer. Visit her today and let her know catnip sent you! LOL!

Singing in the Shower

Singing in the Shower | catnipoflife | Scoop.it

Can you imagine a world without music? It would be a world void of colors and textures, thus soulless. There would be no form, no expression. Thank goodness we have music or life would be a total bore, empty, useless. Music is all around us with melodies whispering in the wind, carrying along the harmonies of the songbirds. Each note captures the human heart penetrating deep into the soul leading to some of the best compositions imaginable. All you have to do is enjoy the catipoflife, listen to life’s songs! That includes singing in the shower!

Sharla Shults's insight:

Do you sing in the shower giving yourself top billing on Broadway? Are you a rock star or a diva? Did you know singing in the shower has become a widespread phenomenon?

Award, Award, Award!

Award, Award, Award! | catnipoflife | Scoop.it

My, my, my! Three awards! Thank you, Raani, Ute, and Texas! The Friends and Followers Award comes by way of Raani York. Raani writes a very unique blog, which you must visit in order to truly appreciate.  While she writes in many categories, my favorite is her letters to celebrities. What a hoot! She carries them for one wild ride! Then, of course, there are Jake’s antics and viewpoints recorded as the Diary of a Cat Prince .

The second award, The Imagine Award, is accepted graciously from Ute smile Ute’s Happy World. This is a totally new award for catnip and what a colorful award, especially the mystical, magical unicorn. Thank you, Ute. Sending thanks along with a big-g-g-g-g hug! I encourage everyone who has not visited Ute’s blog to absolutely do so. You will not be disappointed. She is always coming up with something new, great quotes to guide you through the day, week, month and wit to keep you laughing!

The third award is the My Favourite Things Award bestowed on catnip by Texas, a Cat in Austin. Texas used to be Texas, a Cat in New York, but a move across country delegated the name change. So, Texas, now that you are in Texas, let’s see if you live up to your true name! Visit Texas where you will marvel at the antics of a furr-r-r-r y friend and writings from the cat’s perspective. There is never a dull moment within the writings and plenty of aw-w-w-w-w moments!

Friends vs. Friendship

Friends vs. Friendship | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
During a lifetime, each person will encounter innumerable friends. They will come. They will go. Some will be remembered. Some won’t. Many will be real. Thousands will be virtual. Yet, we call them all ‘friends’. There is really no separation. Some we see. Some we don’t. These are our circle of friends.
Sharla Shults's insight:

Each of us can be a friend, associate with friends, and form lasting friendships. Those that last are the ones which we truly celebrate. In other words, a celebration of friendship is when you are not only told you have dirt on your face but your friend helps you clean up your mess! This is our blessing of friendship.

Magic

Magic | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
"Have you opened your eyes to the magic that is surrounding you at this very moment? Imagine it and bring it to life!" ~ Roxana Jones

Magic. Do you believe in magic? If your answer is ‘no’ my question to you is “why not?” Magic surrounds you every single moment of the day. There is magic in the air, in the woods, in the mountains, by the ocean, right in your own back yard. It is invisible yet can be seen. It is silent yet can be heard. It is intangible yet soft to the touch. How can this be you may ask? It’s magic!

Inspiration: Solace in Winter

Inspiration: Solace in Winter | catnipoflife | Scoop.it
Winter brings chills to the bone but with it comes extraordinary beauty, grace and even a sense of magic. For those encountering snow, early, early morning reveals a new dusting of silvery white from Nature’s paintbrush swishing over, under, around and through everything in sight. Ice-glazed water glistens in the daylight as tiny birds peck away for a single droplet. The gracefulness of snowflakes whirl and twirl around and around floating effortlessly, landing softly one atop another. Person after person stroll in the midst, bundled up like Eskimos, giggling as the cold bites each nose and resemble the main characters within a magical snow globe scene.

Of course, we know there is a flip side to the coin depicting this scene...

Where do you find solace in Winter?
