Cities With A Future: Most Competitive Global Markets for 2025

Cities With A Future: Most Competitive Global Markets for 2025 | CaseySos | Scoop.it

When you’re starting a business — or trying to grow one — it helps if your city is a fertile environment for growth. An interesting new report conducted for global bank Citi projects which cities will be the most competitive in 2025.

The survey ranks the cities for a number of factors, including war odds, infrastructure, crime, natural disaster risk, and education levels. These are weighted to determine which cities have the magical combination that best attracts entrepreneurs and encourages business growth.

Social Media Marketing Essentials: You Only Understand Conversions You Are Part Of

Social Media Marketing Essentials: You Only Understand Conversions You Are Part Of | CaseySos | Scoop.it

I was on a Twitter Scramble the other day with The Fish Firm and was impressed with their ideas and contributions. I am particularly impressed with this post. The title is a magical idea.

The magical idea is conversions are happening, social conversions, that a company can't understand fully because they are not part of the conversation. Such a powerful double idea so simply stated.

There are many implications to not understanding conversions you are not part of including:

* Cast a broad social net and to be part of more conversations.

* Responding is critical to being included in the conversion.

* Conversions aren't free; you do something to be included.

* No matter how good you are you are still missing conversions.

If you are a perfectionist the last bullet can drive you stark raving mad. Internet marketers learn to turn into the wind and trim, constantly trim, based on feedback loops.

Great post by The Fish Firm.

You Can’t Understand A Conversation That You Aren’t A Part Of... | CaseySos | Scoop.it

Smart companies are the ones that are connecting with their customers online. By doing so, they are getting a better understanding of their customers as well as the online conversation around their brand. But, In most cases, there’s an alarming disconnect between who the brand thinks its customers are, and vice-versa. Usually, this disconnect is because the brand and customer have no real interaction with each other.

@TimOKeefe Yes it is! I usually start out w/ clients with the analogy that Social Media should be treated re communication such as their phone or email while that conversation is public knowledge such as a bill board or magazine ad. It is scary for some but as you stated it is vital to know what consumers are saying!

This type of communication takes a long time for more established business owners to adjust too and adopt! It's so counter intuitive to what they have ever done. The Gen X & Y business owners totally get it - yet you'll be hard pressed to find them in the same business model as this older generation. That's why Erik Qualman said "The ROI of Social Media is that you'll still be in business in five years."

Bill Gates’ Polio Vaccine Program Caused 47,500 Cases of Paralysis Death.

Monsanto previously used Bollywood actors and succeeded in selling India’s farmers Bt cotton seeds. Profits for Monsanto rose. When yields were less than promised, farmers incurred massive debt, leading many to suicide, in what is considered “the worst-ever recorded wave of suicides of this kind in human history.” To date, the number of suicides has surpassed 250,000.

“In 2011 there were an extra 47500 new cases of NPAFP [non-polio acute flaccid paralysis]. Clinically indistinguishable from polio paralysis but twice as deadly, the incidence of NPAFP was directly proportional to doses of oral polio received. Through this data was collected within the polio surveillance system, it was not investigated.”

The Oral Polio Vaccines were given to Indian children. The CDC had already dropped the OPV from its vaccine schedule in the US because it was causing polio.

Why can't Bill Gates promote food security through local agriculture, water security through clean wells and health through nutrition?

Simple. He's part of a system that has completely different priorities. And they don't include health, other than as a buzz word to sell pharmaceutical medicines and mass-produced genetically modified foods.

Content curation is not just for businesses. I find it's a wonderful way to store resources for myself, my students and likeminded users. It's a great way to share and add your own insights without having to write a full blog post. I can certainly recommend it for language teachers as a means of creating an accessible repository for already filtered material. It'll save you time and you'll always have extra content at hand for those moments when you need something for five-minute-activites or additional reading for those students that are working ahead in class etc. Try it out for yourself!
