I came across this interesting little snippet on business etiquette put out as a teaser to the upcoming book The Essentials of Business Etiquette: How to Greet, Eat and Tweet Your Way to Success (August, 2013, McGraw-Hill).

 

I have always heard that you shouldn't have a particularly limp handshake because some people find it off-putting, but a lot of people do - not just women who were never "taught how to shake hands", I've come across many men in the work place who have anyth8ing but a firm handshake (I have also come across women with a death grip!). To me the idea that women in 2013 need extra coaching in this kind of thing than men seems a bit outdated - but I could be wrong.

 

 

I will say though that the teaser press release has done its job and I am now very curious to see what gems Barbara Pachter will have to offer in her new book next month…
