More than half of the world now lives in urban areas. In the U.S., urban dwellers make up 83 percent of the population, and it's growing every day. What does it mean to live in a city today? What are the challenges for cities going forward?
Are you your city? Not the usual question one might ask, but in a way, we are all part of our cities, for without citizens they would not be what they are. But what role does the citizen play in shaping a city’s identity, and vice versa?
Addressing issues important to our community and society, this project highlights national and local artist creating original works that will be presented to the community in an Out Of the Box healing experience.

"these projects can't help but raise big and important questions regarding the protocols of access, the ideals of knowledge and rules of intellectual property, the health of public institutions, the viability of public space and public life, and the definitions of civic values(...) The little library movement is enabling us — sometimes unintentionally, sometimes not — to appreciate the distance that separates these ephemeral, marginal spaces and projects from the strong, stable public institutions that have been so central to our cities, and to our democracy. So perhaps the challenge now is to determine how these ever more prevalent "provisional, opportunistic and guerilla" projects can complement and strengthen our more traditional institutions and the cities they serve."
The building is the home of Art Share L.A. a non-profit organisation dedicated to cultivating the vibrant and creative Arts District community, and making all forms of artistic expression accessible to all.
It’s all about creativity and innovative entrepreneurship, pop ups, collaboration and the sometimes seemingly crazy. Doing it Differently looks at a range of creative and innovative solutions to the challenges of urban living. Creativity in all its forms is essential to the healthy evolution of urban environments, particularly when undergoing such rapid change.
