As you might know the entire European parliament (and council and commission) are stuck with Microsoft products for all clients. We have Linux for servers and such that the tech people tinker with, but us regular office drones have the pleasure of everyday being greeted by the Microsoft logo. The majority here in the parliament are stuck with Windows XP as their daily software diet. But not us, we have been upgraded! We had the fortune of being picked to be part of the testing group for windows 7. And here’s my review of the experience so far.

The Swedish Pirate Party filed formal charges against Swedish banks for their discrimination against WikiLeaks, which has been systematically denied donations by payment providers since 2010. Numerous payment service providers, including Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal, have blocked donations to WikiLeaks and other legal operations since 2010. Banks have been a part of the network of these service providers, which means that the banks actively participate in stopping donations without legitimate grounds. The Swedish Pirate Party says that this behavior is unacceptable and cause for grave concern, and has filed charges against the Swedish banks in question to try this behavior in court.

For the purpose of constructing a free and open society in which the freedom of speech and artistic creation will be assured, Pirate Parties of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia have agreed to further their collaboration. In order to provide mutual help and efficiently share experiences, the Parties began organizing regular online meetings, while translation efforts will be placed under mutual cooperation. Joint conferences, seminars and workshops in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are currently being implemented.

The UK's music industry body threatens legal action against the Pirate Party UK over service offering a workaround to a banned site. Minor political group Pirate Party UK set up a proxy service to the piracy site ahead of its blocking by the High Court in April. Leader Loz Kaye refused the British Phonographic Industry's (BPI) request to shut down the proxy last week.
