It also has a tool that helps hiring managers articulate the criteria for each position and match applicants to the results.

Qidni Labs, founded by University of Waterloo graduate Morteza Ahmadi, is developing nano-filters that the company hopes can be used in implants that could be an alternative to dialysis in removing toxins from the blood.

Structur3D Printing, founded by Andrew Finkle and Charles Mire, makes a device that can be attached to a home-based or small commercial 3D printer to allow people to do 3D printing with soft materials such as food paste, wood filler or clay.

A Canadian tech exporting success story that should be more common

A Canadian tech exporting success story that should be more common | Canada's Technology Triangle Inc. | Scoop.it
Kitchener, Ont.-based Miovision Technologies helps places around the world tackle their terrible traffic. But despite this particular example, Canada is not great at exporting its tech equipment and know-how, experts say
Canada's Technology Triangle Inc.'s insight:

Miovision manufactures and exports hardware and software, based on two products, one called Scout and the other Spectrum.

Scout is an all-weather recording device that shoots MP4 videos of traffic at intersections, which can either be counted by traffic managers from afar or fed into larger databases to analyze traffic patterns.

Spectrum is a communications interface that looks like a souped-up router. It works with GPS systems to let traffic managers look, in real time, at what is happening at different intersections – to tell if there is excessive congestion, see whether the lights are timed properly or determine if a signal is burnt out or broken.

Talent Attraction for the 21st Century

Talent Attraction for the 21st Century | Canada's Technology Triangle Inc. | Scoop.it

Led regionally by the efforts of CTT, Brainport Region and Waterloo Region have, over the last few years, developed very close ties, stemming partly from our striking similarities.

Yvonne van Hest is one of the individuals from Brainport who has visited Waterloo Region often and I'd like to share a recent blog post that she penned.  As someone from outside this region, she offers a fresh view of the PI talent initiative and a sense of camaraderie in that her home shares the same challenges and sees PI and Waterloo Region offering a fresh approach.

Canada's Technology Triangle Inc.'s insight:

"Talent Attraction 3.0 is the next step to be able to win the 'war for top talent'. More and more Western countries are 'battling' for the same talents. And I am convinced that we can only be ahead in this 'war' by getting connected to the worldwide talents at a younger age, and by giving them this 'once in a lifetime experience'. I really believe that this is the key."

CETA and You: Seizing the Benefits of Freer Trade with Europe

CETA and You: Seizing the Benefits of Freer Trade with Europe | Canada's Technology Triangle Inc. | Scoop.it

At long last, the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is expected to come into effect in 2016. It is larger in scale than any other international trade agreement in Canada’s history, and many homegrown businesses are excited about the new opportunities it may bring. But while tariff elimination on goods is typically the most talked-about feature, other parts of this particular deal may offer even greater benefits to Canadian firms.

If companies try to build their exports on the strength of tariff elimination alone, they can expect only a modest benefit from CETA. On the upside, Canadian firms can take advantage of CETA by proactively innovating and adapting their products and services to the many wealthy European markets.

Canada's Technology Triangle Inc.'s insight:

Join Danielle Goldfarb for a presentation of new Conference Board of Canada research that: identifies which sectors should benefit from tariff reductions, describes how companies can achieve much larger gains from the CETA deal, and demonstrates how Canadian companies can better understand the opportunities in various European markets.

Learn how to make the most of this new trade deal at CETA and You: Seizing the Benefits of Freer Trade with Europe, taking place Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM ET. The registration fee for this session is $149. This fee gives you access to the live webinar and Q&A session, as well as access to the recording that you can share with your entire organization.
