Disease and Homoeopathy: Abcess (sic)

Disease and Homoeopathy: Abcess (sic) | CAMwatch | Scoop.it

(Including Infections, Suppurations, Cellulitis, etc.)

An abcess is a localized collection of pus in any part of the body, caused by an infection. An abscess is a tender, easily pressed mass generally surrounded by a colored area from pink to deep red. The middle of an abscess is full of pus and debris.

Painful and warm to touch, abscesses can show up any place on your body.

anarchic_teapot's insight:

Yeah, they can turn up anywhere, although blocked pores and wound sites are among the favourites. Oddly, this quack doesn't mention wounds.

How to treat an abscess: see your *fully qualified medical* doctor (or dentist, if it's a tooth that's giving you grief). If the abscess can be lanced & cleaned, that is rthe first step.

The next step, if necessary, is antibiotics. Not - and I insist on this - sugar pills with flowery names flogged by some self-important twat spouting mumbo-jumbo to make himself sound knowledgeable.

The final step, if neither of the above work is, I'm afraid, probably surgery. Untreated abscesses can lead to all sorts of complications, some of which can be lethal.

Don't fuck with quackery when your life may be on the line.

Holly shares the benefits of beginning each day by accessing the Soul-level resource of the Akashic Records.
Beginning My Day

One of my favorite ways to begin each day is in my Akashic Records. With a hot mug of tea in hand, a copy of the Pathway Prayer and my current Akashic Journal I venture into this incredible space of unconditional love and acceptance. No matter how I feel about my day ahead I always feel happier, more grounded, and peaceful because I spent time in my records.

anarchic_teapot's insight:

No, I haven't a clue what Akashic Records are, either, except that it sounds like something H.P. Lovecraft invented. Or maybe it's a small, independent recording company for Goth Metal bands.

In any case, all these starry-eyed, breathless happiness is available, at the corrct price, from Holly as she's selling courses in this New Age tripe. Of course she is. When did you ever see a SCAMster that wasn't selling something, be it quack nostrums or some form of religion?

RAIPUR: If the claims of the Directorate of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), are to be believed, a pilot project of testing homeopathy drugs on leprosy patients...
anarchic_teapot's insight:

This is called "lying by implication". Real medicine cured the leprosy, aka Hansen's disease; the homeopaths are claiming credit for the regeneration of damaged nerves *after* the treatment has ended.

Any doctor will tell you that nerves can mend themselves, although it can take months, providing the original damage wasn't too severe. There's no reason why some former sufferers at least shouldn't recover a certain amount of feeling after a sufficient amount of time.

WTF Central: Homoeopaths can prescribe allopathic drugs after 1-year course - Mumbai Mirror | CAMwatch | Scoop.it
Times of India
Homoeopaths can prescribe allopathic drugs after 1-year course
Mumbai Mirror
The decision, which will benefit 62000 homoeopathy practitioners in the state, has left the allopathic medical fraternity appalled.
anarchic_teapot's insight:

Doctors and pharmacists, please take a deep breath now.

All hell appears to be breaking loose in Mumbai. Real doctors are appalled, politicians with working brains are horrified, and the appropriateness of the school (just the one - funny, that).chosen to teach homeopaths a crash course about real drugs (but alas, not real diagnosis or real disease) is being seriously questioned.

The logic genuinely seems to be "we don't have enough doctors, so we'll let any fuckwit who does this course prescribe medicine to the unsuspecting and vulnerable."

A terrible law with potentially lethal consequences, but it's alright: the homeopaths will benefit. Not their victims, just the homeopaths.

Deteriorating health forces homeopaths to call off hunger strike - Times of India

Deteriorating health forces homeopaths to call off hunger strike - Times of India | CAMwatch | Scoop.it

Times of India NAGPUR: Despite promises and assurances made by several ministers and MLAs to discuss their issues in the recently-concluded winter session of state legislative assembly, homeopathy practitioners from across the state were a disappointed lot on Friday. The protesting homeopaths were forced to call off their indefinite hunger strike on the last day of the assembly in city after their health started deteriorating.

Twenty-eight of the striking doctors, who had been on a hunger strike since December 9 - the first day of the winter session, have been hospitalized.

anarchic_teapot's insight:

The homeopaths went on hunger strike to demand the right to prescribe real medicine, something they have no training whatsoever to do.

It would be uncharitable to point out that, if homeopathy cures everything - as they claim - none of these homeopaths should have needed hospitalisation in the first place. It would also be unkind to speculate whether the treatment they are receiving in hospital is homeopathic or medical.

Uncharitable and unkind, yes, but when idiots are trying to divert State resources to foist quackery on the poor, ignorant and gullible, kindness and charity towards them are totally misplaced.

Giving voice to the adoption community ("I believe that every single one of us is responsible for healing our trauma." http://t.co/5fskX0Qh5z #NationalAdoptionMonth #adoption)...
anarchic_teapot's insight:

"I believe every birth mother has the responsibility to heal whatever trauma she has experienced as a result of her pregnancy and relinquishment of her child.  Even if the pregnancy was forced.  Even if the relinquishment was forced.

She is responsible to heal enough of her trauma that she can tolerate the experience of her adult offspring learning her identity."

Nothing like victim-blaming all the way down, is there?

While I'm also suspicious of the 95% figure for women prepared to welcome a child given for adoption many years before, the notion of demanding "healing" from her - even if she was raped and forced to bear the child  - is downright cruel and egotistic.
