"As of the time of this review high quality zoom lens options are not really available in Sony E mount (Sony NEX) so it is viable to have a look beyond. Sony Alpha (DSLR) lenses can be used on NEX cameras via Sony Alpha adapters (EA-LA1 & LA2). The more interesting adapter is the new Sony EA-LA2 which basically transforms your NEX into a Sony Alpha SLT DSLR with phase-detection AF support - with no real drawbacks apart from the extra bulk. "Sony has confirmed it will be making a full-frame replacement for its flagship A900 DSLR. No further details were given during a round-table discussion at the CP+ show in Japan, but we find it hard to believe the result will step away from the SLT technology the company has invested so heavily in. The company has also finally announced the A-mount 500mm F4 lens that it has been showing in various states of preparedness since PMA 2007 will be available from late March. No details of price are given but the premium 'G' branding and the fact it's a 500mm F4 are likely to make as substantial a dent in your wallet as the lens would make if you dropped it onto a particularly malleable surface." "Since we tested the Sony SLT A77 we were very curious to see how the soon-to-be released Sony NEX 7 would compare. And today we have the answer: as we expected, the absence of mirror give the NEX7 some advantages. Let's see it in details..." Via Philippe Gassmann Delete the scoop?

Until now, the mirrorless camera market has remained a bit of a niche, never quite distracting snappers away from entry level DSLRs or top end compacts. Via Ricardo Vilela Delete the scoop?

"I have to say I have one of the better jobs on the planet, at least for a photography gear-head. The part I like best — well, really there’s a lot of parts I like best — but one fun part is that my job description includes: Take things apart. See how they work. Learn how to fix them..." The Sony Alpha NEX-5N is one of three new NEX models announced by Sony in August 2011. The NEX mirrorless ILC range is built around a large 'APS-C' sensor (the same in many DSLRs) which allowed the original NEX-3 and NEX-5 establish a reputation for quality and superb low noise performance in a very compact body... "In addition to "What a difference an "n" makes", the subtitle of this report should also read "What a difference a year makes". In my First Impressions Review of the Sony NEX-5 I was impressed with the technology of reducing an APS-C sensor camera to Lilliputian dimensions. But I was less than impressed with the NEX-5's user interface. In fact I thought it was dreadful..." Via Philippe Gassmann Delete the scoop?
