Parking charges at Cambridge's park and ride sites

Parking charges at Cambridge's park and ride sites | Cambridge Technology Review | Scoop.it
Parking charges at Cambridge's park and ride sites agreed as Stagecoach deal ...
Cambridge News
Motorists will have to pay to park and to ride if they catch the bus into Cambridge from January, after councillors rejected a deal with a transport firm.
Kevin Coleman – Alliantus Limited's insight:

OK so the Stagecoach deal wasn't acceptable but why are we introducing parking charges? What are the real financial implications? 1. Hard pressed Cambridge workers will have to pay an extra £20 / month transport costs. 2. Time to get around a heavily congested city will increase resulting in man hours lost. 3. Shoppers will vote with their feet (or wheels) so more business pressure.

What has happened to the idea that the  park and ride is a public service? And while I am at it does anyone on the council use it. It has been a disaster for years.
