Want to grow the UK economy? Invest in green Says Cambridge Study

Want to grow the UK economy? Invest in green Says Cambridge Study | Cambridge Technology Review | Scoop.it

“The UK's economy would be boosted by 1. 1 per cent by 2030 if it cut its greenhouse gas emissions, rather than sticking with dirty fossil fuels (RT @EarthAdapt: #Green #Energy : Want to grow the UK economy?”

David Cooperrider's curator insight, September 9, 5:04 PM
If climate change isn't incentive enough to cut emissions, try this: if the UK cut its carbon emissions by 60 per cent from 1990 levels by 2030, as it has promised, its GDP would be 1.1 per cent bigger than if it stuck with fossil fuels, says a study by Cambridge Econometrics. About half the gain would come from cheap running costs for fuel-efficient cars, with 190,000 new green jobs and higher wages also helping. The average household would be £565 a year better off.

Passenger numbers 'plummet 14%' after parking charges come in at Cambridge ...
Kevin Coleman – Alliantus Limited's insight:

So anybody surprised? I've commented on the stupidity of this before.

Park and ride: introduced to avoid city centre congestion, then almost anything possible done for years to ensure that it didn't  work.

Bus too expensive (so cheaper to take in car of 4 and park), until recently ripped off on ticket machines (no change and no multiple fares so had to feed it, queues in the rain because bus drivers don't take money and too many rude bus drivers (nothing new).

And now because it is working and people are cycling and not using the bus you have to pay to park... what did you expect?

Bit of a rant. :-)
