University of Arizona aiding in prevention of mega forest fires | The Prescott Daily Courier

As Arizona's 2014 wildfire season draws to a close, let's assess the costs - millions of dollars and nearly 200,000 acres of grassland and forest burned. On the plus side, roughly 120,000 acres of prescribed fires, managed by the U.S. Forest Service, occurred to remove excess fuels such as dead wood, dry brush and grasses, which fuel wildfires.

University of Arizona offers farmer workshop | Prescott (AZ) Daily Courier

Are you interested in growing fresh produce to sell? A four-session workshop for those interested in starting their own business growing vegetables and other specialty crops will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 26, March 12 and March 26, at the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension on the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, 840 Rodeo Drive #C. The fourth session will be a Field Day devoted to constructing a hoop house and the date will be announced at the first session.
