Belmont Stakes 2015 By The Numbers: Quantifying A Triple Crown Attempt | Forbes

You will be forgiven if, after reading Belmont Stakes coverage around the web, you think that 37 is the most important number of the whole event. After all, it’s nearly impossible to talk about American Pharoah without talking about what’s at stake when he runs the mile-and-a-half “test of the champion” Saturday: if Pharoah crosses the wire ahead of every other horse, he will become the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978. The drought is 37 years long, and one that many racing fans are eager to see end.
