Shift Your School: Creating a Networked Community of Learners | Powerful Learning Practice

Shift Your School: Creating a Networked Community of Learners | Powerful Learning Practice | BYOD iPads | Scoop.it

An excellent post by Jenna Luca, a Teacher-Librarian in Autralia in which the changes  across the school are informed by SAMR model of technology integration in the design of learning tasks.

"How do you make change happen beyond your classroom? When I started writing about how technology was changing my approach to teaching and learning, my focus was initially on my immediate classroom and the changes happening there. But I’m a Teacher-Librarian. I work not only in an English classroom where I hold court, but across all year/grade levels working with teachers and students in many different subject areas.
It became obvious to me that systemic change was necessary to enable all our students to benefit from the opportunities created by technology and connectedness.

A Quick Guide To Managing A Classroom Full Of iPads | Edudemic

A Quick Guide To Managing A Classroom Full Of iPads | Edudemic | BYOD iPads | Scoop.it

While the iPad’s potential in formal learning environments is clear, there is a practical side to its implementation that is not often recognized until after they’re purchased. Logistics here are usually left to an over-worked school or district IT person—or worse, to the classroom teacher. At $500 each for the 16GB iPad 3, thirty iPads would be in the ballpark of $15,000—a huge responsibility financially. But did you know that iPad storage can also impact classroom management?

» What I’ve Learned About Learning :zenhabits

I think we can divide up tech pedagogy into training and meta-tech.  What I mean is that one is skills based and the other is 'learning how to learn' based.  Here is a post by Leo Babauta about the latter.  He breaks learning (which includes tech learning) into two key lessons:

"1.  Almost everything I’ve learned, I didn’t learn in school; and

 2.  Almost everything my students (and kids) have learned, they learned on their own."

Out of these two simple rules incredibly adaptive complexities emerge.
