"Major Insurance Company Faces Lawsuit For Allegedly Tricking Customers Into Canceling Their Policies" | ThinkProgress.org | 11/07/13 | FDW's Daily Scoops | Scoop.it
Two angry consumers are suing one of the country's largest insurers for allegedly tricking them into dropping their insurance policies.
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

This may prove to be a bigger issue than one would think.  Remember the mortgage mess in the banks that nearly brought down the economy.  Greed is a problem in the insurance industry as  well.

"Blues Legend B.B. King Dies at 89" | MSN - Entertainment | 05/15/15 | FDW's Daily Scoops | Scoop.it
For more than half a century, the legendary Blues guitarist averaged 275 shows per year.
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

...."B.B. King, the last of the Southern-born blues musicians who defined modern electric blues in the 1950s and would influence scores of rock and blues guitarists, has died. He was 89.

The Mississippi-born guitarist, who had suffered from Type II diabetes for two decades, died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. PDT Thursday at his home in Las Vegas, his attorney Brent Bryson tells the AP. In October, King fell ill during a show and after being diagnosed with dehydration and exhaustion, canceled his concert tour and had not returned to touring at the time of his death.

With his trusty Gibson guitar Lucille, King developed his audiences in stages, connecting with African-Americans region by region in the 1950s and '60s, breaking through to the American mainstream in the '70s and becoming a global ambassador for the blues soon thereafter, becoming the first blues musician to play the Soviet Union."

Researchers will bring the vaccine stateside and track it for the FDA so it can be manufactured and sold in the US.

.....How did Cuba end up with a cutting edge immuno-oncology drug? Though the country is justly famous for cigars, rum, and baseball, it also has some of the best and most inventive biotech and medical research in the world. That’s especially notable for a country where the average worker earns $20 a month. Cuba spends a fraction of the money the US does on healthcare per individual; yet the average Cuban has a life expectancy on par with the average American. “They’ve had to do more with less,” says Johnson, “so they’ve had to be even more innovative with how they approach things. For over 40 years, they have had a preeminent immunology community.”
