The two stars worked together to provide a memorable night with many of their best hits. MPB will broadcast live the funeral services for B.B. King from his hometown of Indianola, Mississippi on Saturday, May 30th. Coverage will start on MPB TV at 10:30 a.m., with the service starting at 11 a.m. at the Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral is scheduled to last until 3 p.m. A live stream will also be available online at this page. All times are Central Daylight Time.

Reverend Melvin Matthews
Reverend Herron Wilson

Service also includes performances by the B.B. King Boys and Girls and Merritt Middle School Choirs, the Bell Grove M.B. Church Choir, and "Fats" Domino.

Congressman Bennie Thompson will read a letter from President Obama, and Governor Phil Bryant will share remarks. Senator Willie Simmons and Representative Sarah Thomas will present legislative proclamations honoring King. Mrs. Marba Anthony will provide acknowledgements and Rev. Herron Wilson will deliver the eulogy.

Nebraska abolished the death penalty on Wednesday over the governor's objections in a move pushed through the Legislature with unusual backing from conservatives who oppose capital punishment for religious, financial and practical reasons.Senators in the one-house Legislature voted 30-19 to override the veto of Gov. Pete Ricketts, a Republican who supports the death penalty. The vote makes Nebraska the first traditionally conservative state to eliminate the punishment since North Dakota in 1973.

Producer Harry Wiland and I filmed inside the joint. Scenes include a concert and other behind the scenes stories. This scene presents the amazing Voices of East Harlem. Other scenes involve BB King and Joan Baez, Jimmy Walker and the Voices of East Harlem and other performers.
