"The Positive Reframe: Why Trump’s Inauguration is Not the Beginning of an Era — but the End" | Medium | 01/19/2017 | FDW's Daily Scoops | Scoop.it
In the big-picture view, the brief Trump reign will be seen in history as a difficult but necessary step in the massive transition between economic eras— & to building a new 21st-century civilization
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

INSIGHT:  Trump Begins The End -- Trump is a symptom of something much bigger and more fundamental going on in the world. So are the people behind Brexit in Great Britain. They are not driving the change, they are reacting to the change. They are not showing the way forward, they are making desperate attempts to cling to the past, a past that is gone forever.

The world is in the relatively early stages of an almost inevitable transition to what can be best understood as a new 21st-century civilization. Relatively early — meaning roughly one-third of the way through. And almost inevitable — meaning it can be derailed if we make some catastrophic political choices.

Information presently public and available confirms that Erik Prince, Rudy Giuliani, and Donald Trump conspired to intimidate FBI Director James Come
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

INSIGHT: "Information presently public and available confirms that Erik Prince, Rudy Giuliani, and Donald Trump conspired to intimidate FBI Director James Comey into interfering in, and thus directly affecting, the 2016 presidential election. This conspiracy was made possible with the assistance of officers in the New York Police Department and agents within the New York field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. All of the major actors in the conspiracy have already confessed to its particulars either in word or in deed; moreover, all of the major actors have publicly exhibited consciousness of guilt after the fact. This assessment has already been the subject of articles in conservative news outlets such as The American Thinker, but has not yet received substantial investigation by major media.

While a full summary of the Prince-Giuliani-Trump conspiracy would require a longer discourse, the actions of these men, along with multiple still-anonymous actors, can be summarized in five paragraphs. It will be for journalists with more resources than this writer to follow up on these leads—and, moreover, to see how this domestic conspiracy dovetails with the Trump-Russia controversy, though this too is briefly addressed below."

"Read The Women's March On Washington's Beautifully Intersectional Policy Platform" | Huffington Post | 01/13/2017 | FDW's Daily Scoops | Scoop.it
The organizers of the Women’s March on Washington just released a four-page document outlining the principles and goals of the protest, and it’s the definition of intersectional feminism.

The Women’s March will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21 in DC with sister marches all over the country (and world) to “affirm our shared humanity and pronounce our bold message of resistance and self-determination,” according to the official platform. After a rocky start, the organizers have put together an inclusive and intersectional policy platform.

The document lays out the march’s purpose, values and principles, and gives an important nod to movements that came before them: the suffragists and abolitionists, the America Indian Movement, the Civil Rights era, Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street and the fight for LGBTQ rights.

"Take The Oath" | Wall-of-Us | 01/19/2017 | FDW's Daily Scoops | Scoop.it

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."  — Martin Luther King Jr.

It’s true. This Friday, January 20th, Donald Trump will take the Oath of Office. But don’t worry--that is not how our story will end. On January 20th and beyond all-of-us will take and live our own oath to “protect, preserve, and defend the Constitution.”

#TakeTheOath was created by a group of film, television and theater producers, directors and actors: Dustin Lance Black, Bruce Cohen, Tara Smith, Kaily Smith Westbrook, and Schele Williams [bios below]. This is not a dress rehearsal -- they are asking everyone to join wall-of-us in taking the Oath on Inauguration Day. But that’s just the beginning. We must each write the post-inauguration chapters of our own stories by living The Oath and taking action.

And collectively, that’s called a movement.

Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

To take the oath:

1. Raise your right hand.

2. Say these words (and mean them): "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute my role as an American, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

3. Share your Oath. Tag your Oath. #TakeTheOath/ #WallofUs. If you need a little inspiration, here are social media examples.

Explanation: If you could circle the Earth aboard the International Space Station, what might you see? Some amazing vistas, one of which was captured in this breathtaking picture in mid-2015. First, visible at the top, are parts of the space station itself including solar panels. Just below the station is the band of our Milky Way Galaxy, glowing with the combined light of billions of stars, but dimmed in patches by filaments of dark dust. The band of red light just below the Milky Way is airglow -- Earth's atmosphere excited by the Sun and glowing in specific colors of light. Green airglow is visible below the red. Of course that's our Earth below its air, with the terminator between day and night visible near the horizon. As clouds speckle the planet, illumination from a bright lightning bolt is seen toward the lower right. Between work assignments, astronauts from all over the Earth have been enjoying vistas like this from the space station since the year 2000.

Explanation: Large spiral galaxy NGC 891 spans about 100 thousand light-years and is seen almost exactly edge-on from our perspective. In fact, about 30 million light-years distant in the constellation Andromeda, NGC 891 looks a lot like our Milky Way. At first glance, it has a flat, thin, galactic disk of stars and a central bulge cut along the middle by regions of dark obscuring dust. But remarkably apparent in NGC 891's edge-on presentation are filaments of dust that extend hundreds of light-years above and below the center line. The dust has likely been blown out of the disk by supernova explosions or intense star formation activity. Fainter galaxies can also be seen near the edge-on disk in this deep portrait of NGC 891.
