Andreas Schleicher: Use data to build better schools | Video on TED.com

How can we measure what makes a school system work? Andreas Schleicher walks us through the PISA test, a global measurement that ranks countries against one another -- then uses that same data to help schools improve.
アーサー's insight:

Improving education is not ony about financial investment. It requires a balance of well chosen investment, stimulating R&D among all actors involved especially giving teachers and principals the time and money to do this. Furthermore, the educational environment and the job of being a teacher is viewed as positive and desirable in countries who are peforming well.

Finally, as Schleicher echoes the words of many experts in education we should not just teach our children how to use the present technology (and our present knowledge) but prepare them to deal with the technology (and knowledge) of the future, i.e. prepare them for the unpredictable. Educate from the perspective of complexity not determinism.
