Kotter presenta su proceso de 8 pasos hacia al cambio en su libro “Liderando el cambio” (“Leading Change”), publicado en 1995. That’s one of the reasons that a recent study ranked SEO as the third most important marketing priority for startups (behind social media and content marketing).

Why do startups tend to shy away from SEO? From working with dozens of startups, I’ve found that founders hate the uncertainty that comes from SEO. Indeed, success with SEO can seem like throwing two dice and hoping you roll double sevens.

When thinking about Social Media Marketing you would think that everyone would already be on this band wagon. Well this is not always true all the companies are worried about one thing it is how it is going to make them money. I read this article and it is simply talking about how it is smart to be on the web with a social media presence. Social media is heavily marketed and from many sources state that they are incredibly helpful and effective platforms for their brand. The thing is a lot of managements think that social media just doesnt fit within their brand and no matter what your brand it is it can have a positive effect on your brand. Another thing it says is that a big factor to make it successful is that you need to tie social media into your marketing activities. Social media allows traffic and trade publications which enables increased traffic and more opportunities. Another thing that management is wary about is how you can manage success. It is difficult to see at first and they are looking for hard concrete numbers when it wont always be that easy you have to measure social media metrics. You need to take the reverse approach and make them believe that if you don't adopt it will only be detrimental.

I think this article is a perfect example of the need to explain how social media can really benefit a company and strengthen its brand. Social media is a great tool to boost business and strengthen existing relationships to move a business forward successfully. Unfortunately like the title implies sometimes it takes explaining to people in charge why it is the way forward. However I believe it is really easier than ever, with the prevalence of social media usage by Fortune 500 companies on a day to day basis to communicate B2B and with their customer base to maintain their competitive advantage. Also as the article explains you can actually measure its usefulness using different metrics and analytics like with any other form of marketing.
