Nokia cuts another 10,000 jobs and warns that second-quarter losses from its mobile phone business will be larger than expected.
Anton Petho's insight:

Nokia are feeling the credit the crunch especially in Europe and this is what has prompted  them to cut jobs in order to cut costs. Intrestingly they are cutting most of the UK jobs in R & D and considering Nokia have always pride themslevs on R & D it seems hard how they will be able to compete with the market gaints of Samsung and Apple if they are not innovating as much.

Finnish phone maker Nokia becomes the latest foreign telecom company to face tax issues in India as its factory in Chennai is raided by tax officials.
Anton Petho's insight:

Nokia has recently become the latest victim of tax avoidance scandal, this time it is India. The tax police raided Nokia's largest manufacturing plant, the Chennai factory. This could serverly dent Nokia's brand loyalty in India and could open the market up to more competition from the likes of Samsung.

Nokia is releasing design files that will let owners use 3D printers to make their own cases for its Lumia phones.

 

Files containing mechanical drawings, case measurements and recommended materials have already been released by the phone maker.

Those using the files will be able to create a custom-designed case for the flagship Lumia 820 handset.
