24 SEO Experts Discuss Links vs. Tweets

24 SEO Experts Discuss Links vs. Tweets | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

SEO is the magic word that is often the difference between a business that is concluded or who is lost to another company that is better positioned in search tools like Google, Yahoo, and so on.

Check out what the top SEO Experts in the industry think about links as opposed to tweets! This is also a great list of the top SEO Experts.

The top SEO experts give us their views on these three issues:

Question #1: Because of the way people share content today, do you think the impact on rankings links have will start to decrease?

Question #2: Do you think tweets and other social shares will ever have the kind of impact on rankings that links have today?

Question #3: Would you rather have a link to a blog post from an authoritative blog, or would you rather have the post tweeted by a highly authoritative figure?

5 Great Keyword Research Tools That Are Cheaper than Ramen Noodles

5 Great Keyword Research Tools That Are Cheaper than Ramen Noodles | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

As a budding SEO, I’m always keeping an eye out for as many keyword research tools as I can get my hands on. As a frugal college student, I’m especially thrilled to find free tools! It’s been my goal lately to find these diamonds in the rough.

Anyone who’s been in the Internet marketing industry more than a few weeks knows about tools like Google’s Keyword Tool, Wordtracker, SEO Book’s Keyword Suggestion Tool, and Keyword Discovery. However, I wanted to focus more on the underdogs of the keyword research tools.

There were three requirements to make it on this list: the tool had to be free, useful, and provide something you can’t get with the full-service tools...

Proving Trust on the Web

Proving Trust on the Web | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

For those of us who've been deep in the trenches of online marketing for years, the question of who to trust may seem inane. We've all gravitated to sources of one variety or another, and probably built up a few favorites based on past experience. I've shared some of my selected sources in the past and I (consciously and subconsciously) bias toward trusting news and advice from those over others.

But for those new to the field of web analytics, social media marketing, SEO or a myriad of other practices, it's a true challenge. Case in point, a Q+A question from earlier today:

How do you know what is junk information vs what is truly good SEO advice? Is it just simply trial and error? It seems to me that if people find truly good SEO information, they aren't going to be sharing it so easily. It's the whole, "You get what you pay for".

What SEOs Must Learn from Adwords Folks

What SEOs Must Learn from Adwords Folks | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

AdWords folks. They're the traders of the online marketing world. They spend their time analyzing scoreboards, making little improvements and brainstorming their next ideas. They split-test their ideas, scale the best and ditch the best. In a world where scarce resources force them to make choices over budget, positioning and copy, they're having to think totally differently to SEOs.

Rand posted back in 2008 about the disconnect between PPC spending and SEO spending. Despite the well documented differences in results, PPC is a science from the outset, but SEO still leaves lots to chance. AdWords folks live-and-die by the following five rules...

Your Social Media and SEO Game Plan for 2012

Your Social Media and SEO Game Plan for 2012 | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

Every company should have a plan on how to establish themselves professionally on social media, taking into account various parameters such as volume of publication, SEO and organization. This article will give you support to make it more easily. [note Martin Gysler]

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have heard about the Google Panda update and what it did to many low-quality websites last year. It was more like a Google sniper attack on all the spam and rubbish sites. Honestly, this does not seem to be the end of the Panda: there is more to come, and we need to watch out.

The whole reason Google made these changes was to give Google users a good experience when they use Google search, and why not? When I look for something on Google the last thing I would want to see is rubbish information.

That is why, as SEO marketers, we need to take a different approach to ranking on Google and driving free organic traffic to our sites. If you have done any kind of SEO, you know what the key principles of ranking on Google are.

  • choosing the right keywords
  • building a well optimized site with good content
  • building quality backlinks.

Drive More Traffic To your Blog by Submitting News and Articles

Drive More Traffic To your Blog by Submitting News and Articles | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

After several experiments and tries, I finally did a setup for a community news section on FamousBloggers.net that I am satisfied with. So, I think it’s a good time to share this on the blog and announce the new Community News section for bloggers.

Also, I will give you some information on how I created the news section in case you are interested in implementing it on your own blog, however I won’t get deep into technical stuff, but I will point you to the right direction.

What is a Community News?

If you don’t know what community news section is, then let me give you a quick view…

The Community News section is a way of sharing knowledge, basically you have a section dedicated to receive links submissions from the community and publish it on your own blog. It’s so close to the idea of social bookmarking sites, but the technique and tools are different.

Social Media Marketing Checklist

Social Media Marketing Checklist | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

While putting together a presentation recently, I assembled a simple check list of considerations for a social media marketing effort. We’ve written quite a bit about developing a social media roadmap, strategy and measurement in the past, but there are some important questions to answer when it comes to realizing what’s involved. Companies can test and run tactics in silos but eventually, there will come a time when efforts need to be coordinated.

You may notice that this checklist isn’t that concerned with SEO. Don’t take that to mean Search Engine Optimization isn’t to be heavily considered with a social media marketing effort. At the same time, not all social media efforts need to be SEO focused.

16 Insights into Google's Rating Guidelines

16 Insights into Google's Rating Guidelines | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

Last week, when the SEO world was distracted by revelations that Google was blocking keyword referral data and nostalgic mania over MC Hammer’s search engine, Search Engine Land released a leaked Google document outlining Google's official guidelines for quality raters. I read the 125-page document out of curiosity, and I decided to share some valuable insights it contains into the mind of Google.

Sorry, No Secrets Here

If you’re looking for SEO “secrets,” you’ll be disappointed by this post. Although this is an internal document, and Google may not be happy about it being leaked, you won’t find a smoking gun here. What you will find is a training manual on Google’s philosophy of quality...
