Building Your LinkedIn Network

Building Your LinkedIn Network | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

LinkedIn is certainly the best social media platform for the business contacts and network. To be in harmony, it’s important to respect few rules and good sense. This post will give some information about that. [note Martin Gysler]

In his book Ultimate Guide to LinkedIn for Business, author Ted Prodromou describes how to best to leverage the networking site as a business tool. In this edited excerpt, the author details the two methods of building connections on LinkedIn.

How many connections should you have on LinkedIn? I'm asked that question frequently, and there isn't a magic number that works for everyone. LinkedIn isn't a popularity contest where the person with the most connections wins. LinkedIn is about building relationships and connecting with others, which is very different than the monologue communication of Twitter.

What is a CRM and why do I need one on LinkedIn?

What is a CRM and why do I need one on LinkedIn? | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

Content Relationship Management and LinkedIn

You might have heard the term, or might even be using a CRM in your marketing and sales efforts. If not, you should be! According to Wikipedia, “Customer relationship management (CRM) is a widely implemented model for managing a company’s interactions with customers, clients, and sales prospects.” When using social media, and in particular LinkedIn, we have the ability to download some contact information about connections (1st level contacts). LinkedIn doesn’t really have a useful CRM within its UI (user interface) so its you might consider utilizing third party apps like Avectra’s Social CRM.

Wikipedia continues, “It involves using technology to organize, automate, and synchronize business processes—principally sales activities, but also those for marketing, customer service, and technical support.”

The Unexpected Way To Use Your Social Network Strategically

The Unexpected Way To Use Your Social Network Strategically | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

We knows that networking is the best way to find out about career opportunities and business opportunities, but is there a smart way to use your network? That's the question! This post will give you some tracks about this subject. [note mg].

If it’s a clear night tonight, go outside about 9 p.m. and look west at the two brightest stars, beautiful as jewels, one above the other. Low to the horizon will be the planet Venus, the “evening star,” just beginning to set. Above Venus is the planet Jupiter, the gas giant with more than 60 known moons (and still counting). Now turn around and face east. Coming up off the horizon you’ll see another jewel, this one quite reddish; that’s Mars, the Red Planet (two tiny moons). On March 3 this year, our Earth (one giant moon) will pass closest to Mars, overtaking it in our orbital race around the Sun.

The solar system is a network of planets, each of which has its own network of moons, so it provides a picturesque (if inexact) analogy for social networks, which are also networks of networks. Everyone seems to be on the social media bandwagon now, with the most enthusiastic advocates often competing to build up their networks of Twitter followers, Facebook friends, or LinkedIn connections.

Give Me One Reason to Share It and I’ll Spread Your Post Around | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

There are a lot of blips on our daily radars.

We check our Twitter stream. We drop in on Google+. We comb through our RSS feeds.

And for the most part, we ignore most of the content we see.

Why?

Because we’ve read it before. Because it sounds too familiar. Because it’s obvious. Because it’s just another echo in the echo chamber.

This post is starting to feel guilty of the same sins.

And chances are, you probably won’t share it.

Why? Because it doesn’t give you a compelling reason to share it. And the best content does.

Leveraging LinkedIn…Very Simply, It’s About Harnessing the Relationships You Already Have

Leveraging LinkedIn…Very Simply, It’s About Harnessing the Relationships You Already Have | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

When talking to a new client about social media or indeed when training to a group of businesses on the subject, the one social network that I find most business people feel more comfortable with – and have therefore started to engage with (ie: created a profile) – is LinkedIn.

Often branded as ‘The Professionals’ Facebook’ – over the years LinkedIn has certainly had the reputation of being the business to business resource. And until recently, most research in the four main channels, Facebook, Twitter,YouTube and LinkedIn, identified this to be the case.

And of course, that makes perfect sense.

LinkedIn started out largely as a ‘recruitment resource’ – a place where professionals could share their expertise and pitch for new ‘contracts’ or be head-hunted for positions. In fact, to date, the premium ‘paid for’ subscriptions are still largely the domain of recruitment consultants and head hunters wanting to make contact with highly targeted candidates...
