A Beginner’s Guide to Conversion Goals in Google Analytics

A Beginner’s Guide to Conversion Goals in Google Analytics | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

There’s a reason that when companies call me about SEO, Paid Search, or Social Advertising, we always end up speaking about Analytics as well. The reason is simple. If you don’t have a rounded analytics strategy, then you won’t have a solid understanding of how your campaigns perform. In addition, if you don’t have the mechanisms in place to easily see how visitor segments perform, then important questions could go unanswered. And that’s not good for enhancing your business.

Enter the Conversion Goal
Concepts in Web Analytics can get confusing. You have event tracking, conversion goals, success events, multi-channel funnels, profiles, filters, dimensions, regular expressions, etc. This is one of the reasons that too many companies slap a tracking code on their websites and call it a day. The problem is that an “out of the box” Google Analytics implementation will only get you so far. Sure, you’ll get the basics, but that won’t necessarily help you glean insights that can boost ROI.

10 Powerful Productivity Tips You Can Practice

10 Powerful Productivity Tips You Can Practice | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

What actions describe the remarkably productive? What routines, principles, and tactics establish a few people persistently more productive than the rest?

First, what exactly productivity is? The definition may vary from person to person. Mine goes like this…

Productivity is getting right work done in time, every time — by managing your resources quite well.

Getting yourself engaged with some work at hand isn’t alone being productive. It’s all in the end result. How efficiently you done it matters more, be it your office work or your home chores.

You might be finding yourself many times that you’re sweating all day for nothing. Whereas uber-productive folks can concentrate on result-oriented work as they’re smart enough to differentiate productivity from just being busy. Habitually the baby step in doing right things is finding and decimating the clutters that consume your precious time and efforts...

Achieve Your Goals For A Full Life | Bug Free Mind Andy Shaw

Achieve Your Goals For A Full Life | Bug Free Mind Andy Shaw | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

Goal setting, now there’s some words that generate a variety of difficulties. Everyone who knows anything about goal setting knows they should be doing it… but not all do it. Then the majority of those that do, force themselves to do it.

The problem is, the way goal setting is taught traditionally is total bo**ocks! I could write a book taking apart a goal setting book. This is one of the essential areas the people who can do it, cannot teach it. And because they cannot teach it, then people’s lives remain the same.

I go through the correct procedure to teach creating the life you desire in Using A Bug Free Mind. But here I am going to look through just several of the most well-known techniques and reveal how bent out of shape they are...

6 Ways to Measure Your Social Media Results

6 Ways to Measure Your Social Media Results | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it
Social media measurement: how to develop a framework for tying your social media performance to your business goals so you can measure your social media results.

How much time are you spending on social media? Can you tell if it’s helping sales?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a framework for measuring the impact of your social media efforts?

That’s where Susan Etlinger’s new research for the Altimeter Group comes into play. Susan did qualitative research with 60 social media marketers and vendors to understand how businesses currently measure their social media performance.

Her goal: to develop a framework for tying social media performance to business goals.

NOTE: Because Susan’s original research targeted enterprise-level companies, I interviewed her to add some small business insights. The following comments combine results of the research and that interview...

The Powerful Effects Of Community Development To Reach Your Online Business Goals

The Powerful Effects Of Community Development To Reach Your Online Business Goals | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

What it is, what it does and how it can force your branding to go viral!

The idea of community in business has taken top billing in recent years due in large part to the obvious growth of social networks and the community aspect they foster. John Jantsch has some insightful information into this here at Duct Tape Marketing.com as does Jeff Kubina via Flickr.

Organizations fortunate enough to have forward thinking CEOs and marketing departments have even added the role of Community Manager to the org chart.

It’s time for every business, regardless of size, to take note and add this function to their organization. Not because it’s the hot trendy thing to do – because it will change the way your think about growing your business...

What Have You Done With Q1?

What Have You Done With Q1? | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

An excellent article. I love the structured approach who is easy to use for us all. If you follow the advice provided in this post, the things will be done more easely, for sure! [note mg]

Q1, 2012 is in the record books. What…you haven’t accomplished all that you planned; WHAT…hardly anything? Oh, my!

Well, the good news is you’re hardly alone. In fact, you’re in the majority. We really are a species of habitual procrastinators. So, apparently, you fit right in. After all, most of us do like to feel as if we’re one of the crowd.

Now for the bad news, if you had planned to accomplish X, and didn’t, you bargained with the devil. You repeatedly forfeited some portion of your future success, abundance, and/or happiness for some short-term pleasure or comfort. Hardly a fair exchange, although at the time it may have seemed so.

7 Steps to Incredible Personal Productivity

7 Steps to Incredible Personal Productivity | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it
Practical advice to turn an average workday into an incredibly productive day.

Occasionally you need to go the extra mile. Sometimes you need to complete a major project, tackle a task you’ve put off, or just knock out a ton of work in one day.

Here’s the best way to turn a normal workday into an incredibly productive workday:

1. Let everyone know. Interruptions destroy focus and kill productivity. So are the guilt trips your family "sometimes unintentionally" lay on you. Let coworkers and family know you’re planning a “project day.” Tell key customers too. Announce you will be tied up on, say, Tuesday, and that you will respond to calls and emails on Thursday. Let people know who to contact in an emergency. Some will get with you before Tuesday, and the rest will make a mental note you’re not available. In either case, you’re covered...

Social Media Marketing Checklist

Social Media Marketing Checklist | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

While putting together a presentation recently, I assembled a simple check list of considerations for a social media marketing effort. We’ve written quite a bit about developing a social media roadmap, strategy and measurement in the past, but there are some important questions to answer when it comes to realizing what’s involved. Companies can test and run tactics in silos but eventually, there will come a time when efforts need to be coordinated.

You may notice that this checklist isn’t that concerned with SEO. Don’t take that to mean Search Engine Optimization isn’t to be heavily considered with a social media marketing effort. At the same time, not all social media efforts need to be SEO focused.

How to Practice the Art of Detached Focus to Achieve Your Goals

How to Practice the Art of Detached Focus to Achieve Your Goals | BUSINESS and more | Scoop.it

Focus: Effort, Attention, concentration, motivation, application, single mindedness emphasis, to name but a few of its synonyms.

Having the ability to decide at each moment what merits your attention is to me one of the secrets of success. It’s been proven time and again by sports stars and high achievers If there is something you want, fearlessly focusing on it will give you a much higher probability of achieving it.

Can we focus too much?
But what happens if we focus too much on our destination, when the object of our focus becomes our waking thoughts, our daily deliberations and our midnight meditations? Can this intense concentration bring us the results that we desire?

The answer unfortunately is no, those people who set goals and struggle daily for their goals to manifest generally don’t achieve them, holding on to the goal too tightly will not assist in its acquisition...
