Strategic plurality under isomorphic pressure: the case of French business education 1994-2014

Strategic plurality under isomorphic pressure: the case of French business education 1994-2014 | Business Scholarship and Managerial Knowledge | Scoop.it

This paper pictures the evolution of French management scholarship, 10 years after the takeoff of research at the international level. While French management research is still emerging, the business schools are already in a consolidation phase. Universities have been grouping to create large local campuses (communities of universities), while some business schools have been merging or failing. The simultaneous co-existence of the emergence of the management research field and the consolidation of the business higher education industry suggests that institutionalized patterns have been imported from international bodies.

MOOCs : Eldorado ou fuite en avant ?

MOOCs : Eldorado ou fuite en avant ? | Business Scholarship and Managerial Knowledge | Scoop.it

Internationalization Strategies of Business Schools: How Flat Is the World?

Internationalization Strategies of Business Schools: How Flat Is the World? | Business Scholarship and Managerial Knowledge | Scoop.it

Business school strategy has become extremely complex, especially regarding internationalization. Using different paths, experiencing failure and success, business schools have internationalized, attracting many of the international students who contributed $27 billion to the US economy in 2014. Some business schools are global, training global managers, while others serve national markets. How do business schools strategize about internationalization? Moocs may create a global trail of failed business schools | Business Scholarship and Managerial Knowledge | Scoop.it

The Mooc (massive open online course) phenomenon is having a significant impact on higher education – especially business education.

In less than two years, close to 100 leading universities and business schools have launched 450 costly Moocs and enrolled almost 5m students. Involving Wall Street and Silicon Valley as partners in these ventures, these business schools are changing the rules of competition. But they are doing so at the cost of eliminating their peers.

Those elite schools that are launching Moocs are creating a new standard for business education, in the same way they did with the case study teaching method decades ago.
