Investigation Into Fungal Meningitis Outbreak | Energy & Commerce Committee

Investigation Into Fungal Meningitis Outbreak | Energy & Commerce Committee | Business News & Finance | Scoop.it

On October 4, 2012, the Center for Disease Control announced an outbreak of fungal meningitis had been linked to tainted steroid injections produced by the New England Compounding Center. The Energy and Commerce Committee, on a bipartisan basis, quickly initiated an investigation, seeking briefings and documents from the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, and the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy. The investigation into the circumstances of the drug contamination continues.

This page contains information related to the investigation, and will be updated regularly as new information comes to light.

As of April 13, more than 700 people have been sickened and 53 people have been killed by the outbreak.
