The Eight Pillars of Innovation – Think Insights – Google

How does a company like Google continue to grow exponentially while still staying innovative? Nurturing a culture that allows for innovation is the key..

Adam Max's insight:

It's no longer about who is the smartest person in the room. It's about who taps into the collective genious: "As the leader of our Ads products, I want to hear ideas from everyone. I also want to be a part of the conversations Googlers are having in the hallways.

Several years ago, we took this quite literally and posted an ideas board on a wall at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View. On a Friday night, an engineer went to the board and wrote down the details of a convoluted problem we had with our ads system. Profits come from risk.

It is the process whereby you put your entire fate into the hands of others—your customers—and provide them with a service that is so good they willingly pay you a profit in recognition of what you’re doing for them. Essentially, profit is an index of altruism.

Profits are the result of giving to others, humbling yourself to their needs first.

3 networking lessons we should all learn from the high school coach who suspended 80 players | Communication - Relationships - Resutls | Scoop.it

A high school football coach recently suspended almost all players from the team because of off-field problems ranging from cyberbullying to skipping classes.

Coach Matt Labrum and his staff gave the 80 suspended players a letter titled "Union Football Character", explaining exactly what the boys would need to do if they wanted to earn their jerseys back. The decision was rooted in the coach's belief that football helps create greater men, on and off the field.
Here are three lessons contained in the letter that we should all be reminded of.
