Apple Needs a Fresh Marketing Vision, and We Have Some Ideas

Apple Needs a Fresh Marketing Vision, and We Have Some Ideas | MKT 307 | Scoop.it
Christopher Alfarero's insight:

This article talks about Apple and how Apple's confidence and sense of purpose has shifted since the death of founder Steve Jobs and how the company plans to rebuild and redefine its image to become more attractive to customers. Apple's current marketing strategies "reflects and reinforces the image of a company that has lost its way, not quite sure what its next move should be" due to a lack of innovateve new products (in comparison to Apple's competators such as Samsung and Droid). One way Apple has shifted in their sense of purpose is through their advertising. The article explains in Apple's new advertisements, the focus is "more about the corporation than the consumer... they're about why Apple matters instead of why the consumer should care".Due to the current values expressed in Apple's adds, the article states that "ad experts urge a return to Apple's core values and renewed focus on products and their functionality while eschewing overly aspitational appeals" I would have to agree on this as it puts the consumer back into a position of power and the company focuses more on how they can provide a service to its community rather than reinforcing a societal need for their product.

We are constantly motivated to make decisions that will yield better outcomes for ourselves. Sometimes, the motivation that drives the decisions for one individual (or organizatio) may not create ideal situations for all other indivuals that they work alongside. Trader Joe's is making accomodatios within their health coverage policy in order to work alongside Obamacare - theyplan to utilize a 30-hour threashold for workers to be elegable for the company's health care plan. California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) - Camarillo, CA, USA

California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) - Camarillo, CA, USA | MKT 307 | Scoop.it
California State University Channel Islands is Ventura County's first public, four-year university.
Christopher Alfarero's insight:

I would love to work in the CSU System and as of recently, a career in student life-which pertains towards my interest in student-focued leadership. CSU Channel Islands motivates their employees by providing resources such as dental, medical, visual, income protection, retirement savings plan, etc. But it also motivates their staff by engaging them with student programs or even requesting their involvement with on-campus activities, organizations and committees. The two-factor theory model fits within this style of motivation because there are varying levels of motivators (ex. recognition at an Maximus) and de-motivators (ex. salary) with working at this campus.
