The article seems to be focused on a comparison between the effectiveness of marketing on Facebook or Twitter, with very little information regarding other sources of social media. Facebook is a decidedly more effective marketing tool than Twitter is, with their brand much more likely to spread there than on Twitter. However, Facebook is also a little bit more objective, due to how lenient females are on Twitter. While it does give a little bit of detail regarding how effective the two social media platforms are, much of these statements are something that we already knew and so this article does not contribute much to the understanding of branding.

(From the article): Most marketers know that you can get increased engagement and sharing if you use visuals. This is well understood on Facebook and a range of studies shows that up to 100% more engagement is driven by a visual post over text.


But this is not just a tactic that works on Facebook. With Twitter allowing visual in the stream the use of images is very effective. I did a little test on my Twitter stream and these were the results when I used visuals

Many of these messages contain trigger words they alert me to marketing language or truth-stretching. Sometimes, trigger words tell me the person is not being sincere (for example, when they say "sincerely"). As such, I try to root out this kind of language from my own email communications. Here are 10 words I aim to avoid:1. UnfortunatelyHere's my favourite trigger word. When an incoming message has the word "unfortunately" followed by a comma, I know the person sending it is not being that sincere. It's a dismissive word--the sender is saying they have the power and, unfortunately, you don't.
