Martin (Marty) Smith's curator insight, June 28, 2013 9:09 AM

There is no doubt email marketing remains a major conversation provoker, traffic generator and relationship builder. This article doesn't address the NEW realities of email marketing such as:

* Better look good on mobile.

* Mobile changes CTA and email construction.

* Mobile is the gatekeeper of email marketing now.

* Email better be organized by personas and segments.

* Batch and Blast days are long gone.

* How to support email marketing with social and mobile.

But it is a very solid article on why email marketing is far from disappearing. Different yes, gone not even a little bit.

Why Businesses Should 'Act Human' on Facebook

Why Businesses Should 'Act Human' on Facebook | Business Futures | Scoop.it

No matter how much thought you put into your social media strategy, the real world can always interfere.

Robert Reimann spent more than a week hashing out a plan to boost sales and engagement on the Facebook page for his bike tour business, after being matched with Shane Johnston, a social media marketing consultant from Mashable's Small Business Panel. With Johnston's help, Reimann would launch a contest — along with Facebook ads to promote it — in order to attract more fans and build up an email list of customers, which he would then work to convert into sales.

Microsoft Injects New Creative Tools Into Its Tiny Social Network

Microsoft Injects New Creative Tools Into Its Tiny Social Network | Business Futures | Scoop.it

Microsoft is rolling out a series of social features to make creating on the web even easier, from a new meme generator tool to creating animated photographs you can share on social networks.

The updates are coming to the company's Socl online community, which was first designed as an experiment aimed at students. Developed by Microsoft Research FUSE Labs and launched in 2011, the community has since attracted more than 400,000 registered users across all demographics, especially those with a creative spirit. In that vein, the new features will allow users to create more digital content that is shareable with other social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Those who subscribe to the great man theory believe that history’s course is determined by the impact of highly capable individuals.  While many disagree, it’s hard to argue that talented individuals have not played a part.  However, by now it’s clear that intelligence has evolved, partly through the global networks mentioned above. While many still focus on great individuals, in fact, it’s the network not the nodes that create real change.  Teams, not stars.  Platforms, not brands. Movements, not messiahs.

Jose Jordan's curator insight, June 28, 2013 1:48 PM

Tim Cook: Apple Has Sold 'Over 13 Million' Apple TVs

Tim Cook: Apple Has Sold 'Over 13 Million' Apple TVs | Business Futures | Scoop.it

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the company has sold 13 million Apple TVs during an interview Tuesday.

Cook said that for several years Apple was only selling a few hundred thousand of the set-top boxes annually, but has now surpassed 13 million total units — more than 6.5 million of those sold in the past year.

Cook said television continues to be “an area of great interest” for Apple. The company isn’t marketing the Apple TV like it does its other products, so the sales numbers for the device are encouraging.

Content Marketing Tools For Startups
