The updates are coming to the company's Socl online community, which was first designed as an experiment aimed at students. Developed by Microsoft Research FUSE Labs and launched in 2011, the community has since attracted more than 400,000 registered users across all demographics, especially those with a creative spirit. Apple has bolstered its lead as the top U.S. smartphone-maker, gaining 1.4 percentage points in terms of total subscribers between January and April, according to new data.

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the company has sold 13 million Apple TVs during an interview Tuesday.
Cook said that for several years Apple was only selling a few hundred thousand of the set-top boxes annually, but has now surpassed 13 million total units — more than 6.5 million of those sold in the past year.
Cook said television continues to be “an area of great interest” for Apple. The company isn’t marketing the Apple TV like it does its other products, so the sales numbers for the device are encouraging.
