5 Facebook Advertising Tips that Will Save You Money

5 Facebook Advertising Tips that Will Save You Money | Business Futures | Scoop.it

A couple of months ago I created a video on how to Create a Targeted Facebook Ad on a Budget (refer to the video below). I can appreciate that for most of us just starting out, managing our monthly marketing expenses is of vital importance.

Sure we can expect that our expenses will outweigh our income in the beginning, but soon enough the pendulum will need to shift if we are to stay in business – and we do this by being budget conscious.

Although social media can be a great platform to increase brand awareness, build authority online and generate qualified leads —- often times for free — it stands to reason that if we want to expedite our results, then sometimes that will involve additional expenses.

This is a very good explanation on how important the role curation plays in improving the overall content of a website.  This gives reason for staying on a website and getting bookmarked for return visits.

Adam Donkus's curator insight, May 9, 1:21 PM

Curation sites are becoming hugely important in our online marketing campaigns. Additionally, often times blog posts that are nothing more than a list of currated links on a certain niche tend to do really well.

Luke Hancock's curator insight, May 13, 4:13 PM

Interesting take to curate content of your competitors or curating content that offers a different editorial from your content. I do agree, it will lend to you being more of a thoughts leader without the agenda.

Pinterest Brings Back Beloved Design Features

On Thursday, Pinterest announced it's brought back a host of features from the older version of the site, including the ability to discover the users you follow pins from and the ability to mention your friends by typing "@" before their name. You can also find out which of your Facebook or Twitter friends are on Pinterest once again.

Why your engagement rate is low and how you can fix it

Why your engagement rate is low and how you can fix it | Business Futures | Scoop.it

First off, there seems to be a lot of confusion over what an engagement rate actually is. In short, it’s a measure of the number of people that are engaging compared to the number of people who could be engaging.

Due to the nature of the different social platforms there are likely to be varying rates for each one. For example, the rates for Facebook will differ to those for Twitter. A good rule of thumb is to divide the number of interactions with your base. It isn't rocket science.

However, looking across the barren landscape of brand social media pages, achieving and maintaining high engagement levels does seem to be.

So what's going wrong? Broadly speaking there are seven reasons why your engagement rate is low...

Mobile Apps Are the New Network TV, Without the Ad Dollars

Mobile Apps Are the New Network TV, Without the Ad Dollars | Business Futures | Scoop.it

Researcher Flurry reported on Thursday that the audience for mobile apps has hit 58 million in primetime — 8 p.m. — a figure that rivals that of the top three TV networks on a very good night, but revenues are still just a fraction of those of TV.

The IAB estimates that the U.S. mobile ad market brought in $3.4 billion in 2012. The IAB didn't break out revenues for apps vs. the mobile web, but Flurry has estimated that 80%of mobile activity occurs on apps. Comparatively, Kantar Media calculated that TV advertising accounted for $74 billion in ad revenues in 2012. Even if apps generated 100% of mobile ad revenues, the market would still be just 4.5% that of TV.

Meanwhile, Flurry also found that there are now more monthly users of mobile apps than there are for desktop computers and laptops. Yet the the desktop ad market is still 10 times the size of the mobile ad market in revenues, according to the IAB.

Xbox Exec Tells Fans to 'Deal With' Always On Future

Xbox Exec Tells Fans to 'Deal With' Always On Future | Business Futures | Scoop.it
A Microsoft exec inspired some ill will with comments about the possibility of a "always on" future.

Xbox does not currently require an Internet connection just to play games. However, Orth seemed to be hinting at a future in that direction. The idea is controversial since Diablo III and SimCity both had connection issues, hampering users' gaming experiences. Gamers are concerned that if more publishers require such connections that they'll frequently encounter service hiccups or be sidelined when their own Internet connections go down.
