The 100 Most Expensive Keywords on Google #Infographic

The 100 Most Expensive Keywords on Google #Infographic | Business for small businesses | Scoop.it
Google has many different sources of revenue, but one of their most noticeable is the ads that appear next to search results for specific keywords. How much that keyword costs depends, in part, on how often people search for it -- the more people search for a certain keyword, the more expensive it is.

Why Every Organization Needs a Story Strategy

Why Every Organization Needs a Story Strategy | Business for small businesses | Scoop.it
Do you have a story strategy that encompasses many types of stories? Your strategy defines not only who you are; it defines what stories you tell, how you share them across your organization (that includes a story bank for all parts of the organization to access as needed), and how you’ll manage and lead changes, updates and engage others to tell their stories – including employees, customers and executives.

Dr. Pamela Rutledge:  '“Transmedia,” from a psychologist’s perspective, is how we learn about everything–assembling the pieces of what we know from various sources into a whole understanding.'

This is a ridiculous situation!!! I can receive goods from outside Greece and pay next to nothing...but if I want to send goods outside Greece the cost is exorbitantly high.   Is there a reason why global couriers demand at least 6 times the price to transport goods outside Greece?

Should you act on Google's new HTTPS ranking signal? [@SmartInsights alert]

Should you act on Google's new HTTPS ranking signal? [@SmartInsights alert] | Business for small businesses | Scoop.it

You will know that Google uses hundreds of ranking signals to return the most relevant results for a search, plus many filters to remove spammy or duplicate results too. But it’s rare for Google to announce what these are or to disclose new signals. So, the recent announcement from the Google Webmaster Blog that use of a HTTPS (HTTP Secure) will be used as a positive ranking signal prompted many, particular retailers who will already use HTTP Secure in checkout, to take notice. Google’s precise words were:

“Over the past few months we’ve been running tests taking into account whether sites use secure, encrypted connections as a signal in our search ranking algorithms. We’ve seen positive results, so we’re starting to use HTTPS as a ranking signal”.

EU to propose €100,000 VAT threshold for digital services MOSS - VAT Live

The European Commission is considering proposing a €100,000 VAT threshold on the 2015 EU VAT changes to digital services. This is in response to claims that the changes to the place of supply rules on e-services to consumers are severely hampering the development of digital micro businesses. The proposal for a reporting threshold on sales across EU borders of digital services is expected to come from Andrus Ansip, the European Commission Vice-President for the Digital Single Market. It is in response to campaigning from the UK where a high VAT registration threshold has meant that micro businesses have been drawn into the EU VAT regime for the first time under the 2015 changes.

Why Stories Work for Business

Why Stories Work for Business | Business for small businesses | Scoop.it
Stories work for business because we [the audience] identify with brands. We see ourselves living the lives in these brands’ stories. Therefore, we begin telling stories too. Stories like my New York #missadventure.

Brands need to become media companies.

I recently attended a storytelling seminar with screenwriter, Robert McKee and one of the points he made speaks to this. Companies need to understand that in order to create loyal brand advocates they have to become media companies.

How to Get People to Do What You Want

How to Get People to Do What You Want | Business for small businesses | Scoop.it
Here's a hint: You can catch more flies with honey than you can vinegar.  Your Customers have behaviors that cost your organization money. An excellent example is those Customers that still want a paper statement. The costs associated with sending a paper statement are enormous for an organization, while electronic statements are much less. When Customers get charged for a paper statement, it’s annoying and generates negative feelings toward the company, and rarely encourages them to do what you want. If you reward Customers for making the switch to eStatements, however, they are far more likely to make the switch and have positive feelings for doing so.
