Get a head start on accomplishing everything you need to take your startup to the next level -- and beyond.
cashflow tuna's insight:

As 2013 winds down it is time to start planning for 2014. Actually, if you haven't started yet then you are already behind. This article provides 5 simple steps to help make 2014 your best year in business.

As small and medium sized business owners it's important to focus on improving our businesses each and every day. Whether that is adding value, strengthening partnerships, or being a little more creative with your advertising is up to you. But the most important thing is to make sure you do not become complacent.

As 2013 comes to a close take your time to thank your customers and ask what you can do better next year. Thank your vendors and suppliers and ask them how you can build a stronger partnership next year. And look internally to think about what you can improve for next year.

Happy Holidays,

Tighten up your invoicing to improve your cashflow. Duh!

Tighten up your invoicing to improve your cashflow. Duh! | Small Business Financing | Scoop.it
Daily administrative tasks like creating and sending out invoices, and chasing customers that have conveniently forgotten to pay you, can take up an enormous amount of time and resources in your bus...
cashflow tuna's insight:

Tighten up your invoicing and your collections process to improve your cashflow.  My small and medium sized business clients often tell me how hard it is to collect outstanding invoices. Well, who's fault is that?  It's important to seperate the emotion involved with collecting payment that's due in order to keep your business healthy.

We often want to give some extra leg room to our good customers. The truth is, if we need to offer this extra leg room then they aren't good customers to begin with.

Having a rigid invoicing and collections system in place will send a clear message to your customers to pay on time.  After all, you are not in the credit business and nobody is doing business with you because you are allowing them to pay late. They are doing business with you because you provide stellar service, and a great product. Spend more time improving your product offering and keeping your service levels high, automate your administrative tasks.

Something for your personal wealth... Something really really good.

Something for your personal wealth... Something really really good. | Small Business Financing | Scoop.it

It's not too often that I come across a consumer based investment program geared towards the small and medium sized investors that's really worth talking about.   I mean, we know there is life beyond commercial loans, factoring, and asset based lending and we know how important it is to put some cash under the mattress so to speak and save for a rainy day.

cashflow tuna's insight:

Of course there are your basic stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance policies that any individual can invest in through a bank or financial advisor.  Then there are the companies focused on investing for high net worth individuals like the hedge funds, money managers, and stock brokers that actually know what they are doing.

The truth is, in the eyes of these fund managers and financial planners it can take the same amount of effort, paperwork, and focus to manage a tiny portfolio for a small investor with 50k that it does to manage a portfolio for a larger investor with a million dollars. So of course the good guys are going to only work with the higher net worth individuals and forget about the little people.

Small Business Loans from the United States Government

Small Business Loans from the United States Government | Small Business Financing | Scoop.it
How to get a small business loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration - Website Hosting Tips, Green Hosting (Who can apply for a small business loan through SBA - the US Govt?
cashflow tuna's insight:

Here is a quick and easy read on the who/what/where of small business loans "from" the US Government.

What about an SBA Loan? This is one of the first questions my small businesses clients often ask me. The unfortunate answer is that SBA loans don't really provide any additional benefit beyond standard bank loans, unsecured loans, accounts receivables funding, or merchant cash advance. There are many other options that are more flexible, easier to obtain, and a better fit depending on how you operate your business.

What it really comes down to is how much the loan costs, how long I need it for, and how easy is it to change the amount, borrow more or pay it back quickly to free up additional credit. SBA loans don't always offer the needed flexibility for the small business owner.

Unsecured Business Loans: Are They Really That Bad? - Firmology

Unsecured Business Loans: Are They Really That Bad? - Firmology | Small Business Financing | Scoop.it
Unsecured Business Loans: Are They Really That Bad? Firmology Opinions on unsecured business loans fall on two far ends of the spectrum. Often, sites will strike the topic down flat—“We won't talk about unsecured business loans here,” they say.
cashflow tuna's insight:
A nice and easy read on unsecured loans and merchant cash advance. Merchant cash advances are often thought of as a last effort for raising capital for a business. The truth is, merchant cash advance is a quick and affordable option when all you need is some quick capital for inventory, resources, or even financing an elevated marketing effort as you head into your busy season.
