The Value of Social Media Best Practices | Social Media Today

The Value of Social Media Best Practices | Social Media Today | SME's, Management, Busines, Finance & Leadership | Scoop.it

By their nature, best practices tend to be generalizations. Typically, they don’t specifically address your unique situation, opportunities and challenges.

In the world of social media and content marketing, we spend a fair deal of time talking about best practices. We write blog posts about best practices to help others, and we updated our social streams with endless amounts of content to do with best practices.

This is great. It’s awesome to have such an amazing collection of content on social media best practices. If you’re unsure about how to tackle a certain challenge, conducting a quick search for best practices in that area can be a lifesaver. If you want to validate your thinking, benchmarking against best practices can provide a great deal of relief and help you proceed with confidence.Best practices can be supremely helpful to study, understand and follow...

Can evolution select for evolvability? | Machines Like Us

Can evolution select for evolvability? | Machines Like Us | SME's, Management, Busines, Finance & Leadership | Scoop.it

Evolution does not operate with a goal in mind; it does not have foresight. But organisms that have a greater capacity to evolve may fare better in rapidly changing environments. This raises the question: does evolution favor characteristics that increase a species' ability to evolve?

For several years, biologists have attempted to provide evidence that natural selection has acted on evolvability. Now a new paper by University of Pennsylvania researchers offers, for the first time, clear evidence that the answer is yes.

The senior author on the study, published in the journal PLOS Pathogens, is Dustin Brisson, an assistant professor in the School of Arts and Sciences' Department of Biology. His coauthors include Penn's Christopher J. Graves, Vera I. D. Ros and Paul D. Sniegowski, and the University of Kentucky's Brian Stevenson.

"It's not controversial that populations evolve and that some traits are more apt to evolve than others," Brisson said. "What we were asking is whether the ability of an organism to evolve is a trait that natural selection can pick."

Why content curation is a new form of communication

While the history of communication until the end of the previous century has only been focusing on enlarging the distribution to a few published or broadcasted content creators, we now live in information overload where content curators can be the new super heroes.

How does a company prove digital media's effectiveness?

How does a company prove digital media's effectiveness? | SME's, Management, Busines, Finance & Leadership | Scoop.it

My client's objective was to design and take advantage of new technologies and trends to develop a new approach to accurately measure media effectiveness.

...There are four stages to follow. Initiation, Integration, Intelligence, and Value Creation.

Every action my client takes – from answering the phone at the front desk to the most complex product installation – makes a statement about how that company values customers. These moments in time are when a brand comes to life, when promises made are either kept or broken. Jan Carlzon, former President of Scandinavian Airline Services called these instances “moments of truth”. He defined them as “any time a customer comes into contact with any aspect of your business, however remote, the customer has an opportunity to form an impression.

”Moments of truth, when repeatedly resulting in positive outcomes and experiences, lead to customer loyalty. Customer loyalty is a state of being that is defined by behaviors and experiences on BOTH sides of the relationship – vendor and customer – that lead to a state of value creation for both parties. Loyalty can’t be measured by repeating business alone...

There is so much more corporations can do to share knowledge. Sharing conversations using IM and private social media like Yammer is just the tip of the iceberg. I believe curation will be one catalyst that solves the firehose issue and lets people engage in the topics they are interested in for their career aspirations and adding more value to their employer. Scoop.it will be the leader in this next quest.
