How Therapists and Coaches May Become Obsolete | Business Coaching | Scoop.it
AI and automation will not only eliminate jobs but will transform every aspect of work including the jobs of therapists and coaches.
Miklos Szilagyi's insight:
Well, interesting times are coming... this emerging, more and more complex AI stuff will surprise more than one of us...:-))) "...Virtual reality can release an individual’s potential. University of Barcelona researchers conducted an experiment using virtual reality headsets. Participants entered a room where they were supposed to describe a personal problem. Afterwards, they switched bodies with the avatar that was facing them and gave themselves advice. Some just incorporated a duplicate of themselves. Others were sent into the body of Sigmund Freud. The participants incorporating the Viennese psychotherapist gave themselves much more effective counseling. The illusion of being in the body of Freud, made them already feel that they had more expertise to hand out advice..."

Cynefin, knowledge and learning: what can you do to avoid disorder in 2017?

Cynefin, knowledge and learning: what can you do to avoid disorder in 2017? | Business Coaching | Scoop.it

I’m a huge fan of Snowden & Boone’s (2007) Cynefin model. The seeds of Cynefin can be found at the heart of many of the knowledge and learning models and frameworks I’ve developed for organisations. The Cynefin design is both exquisite and elegant, a model in an age where management ideas are becoming a compendium of dead ideas (Economist, 2016).

For all its beauty and elegance, I believe that its application in organisations is hindered by a lack of understanding of its most powerful of domains, disorder. First, let me start with an overview.

When introducing Cynefin, I find that people become attracted to the four main domains (simple, complicated, complex and chaotic). These domains help to explain a given context, which guides management and leadership practice – note, the following is an applied adaptation of Cynefin, using applied adult learning theory and guidance from the IRGC (International Risk Governance Council):

Miklos Szilagyi's insight:

Beside the situational leadership model (Hersey & Blanchard) this contextual leadership model is the one you can use practically in every moment of your working life. The earlier is about the experience level of the reporting staff while the latter is about the complexity of the issues/problems...

Miklos Szilagyi's insight:
I did know that it's difficult but that in this extent... at first? Horrifying... at second run? Though it's common devise that there is no free lunch... you think perhaps sometimes that yes but it1s valid only for the others... well, no...

Are you really surprised? Think... You routinely using price-comparing sites to find the best buy for your everyday purchases... the threshold for putting out information on the net is (almost) free... That means a big problem for selling standardised products...

Now, translate this to the work-force markets... are your skill a commodity, only bought on price? Or you have some serious pluses... even if you have how to make people to pay attention to this information? Well, there is no free lunch...  you should seriously rethink how to approach the work-force markets...

The Real Answer to Life the Universe and Everything

The Real Answer to Life the Universe and Everything | Business Coaching | Scoop.it
The effects of not communicating, or not communicating effectively, includes – to name but a few – unnecessary and costly errors, duplicate work, things falling through the cracks, ambiguity or confusion which in turn results in delays,  misunderstandings, frustration, unhappy customers and unhappy employees. The list is endless.

Analyzing the fault root cause of any problem in your organization, chances are good that at the source lies some form of miscommunication.

When your employees are unhappy, it’s because they feel their opinion doesn’t count. This means you’re not listening to their needs.  If your customers are unhappy, it’s because their expectations are not in line with yours. There’s a gap between what they think they’re getting and what they are actually getting. If your team fails to implement your big vision – or small one for that matter – it’s either because they don’t understand your expectations or don’t agree with it.  Regardless what the problem, it always involves a gap in communication.

So here’s a rough guide with 10 ways to improve communication at work, even though a book might be more fitting:

Miklos Szilagyi's insight:
The cultural icon/example is you, the founder, the owner, the leader, it's so simple as that... "...It’s kind of funny. You can’t just come in on day one and say, “guys, here’s the culture of the company. You better do this and that.”

One thing that absolutely blew me away as a founder was how much an organization mimics the characteristics of its founders. This happens in a couple ways:

1. They observe your behaviors and actions, and take their cues from what you do.

2. You tend to hire people with similar DNA (unless you’re going out of way to find people to disagree with you) as your own..." - It's crazy how simple it is, no?
