Trees Reduce Air Pollution, Respiratory Problems

Trees Reduce Air Pollution, Respiratory Problems | Bushcraft | Scoop.it
Trees are nature's answer to diminishing air pollution, as well as reducing respiratory problems for the human population, according to US Forest Service scientists and collaborators behind a new study.

I suppose it's not news that we need trees, but there's something to be said for proof.

Nat Turner's curator insight, July 30, 2014 12:41 PM

"memory and intelligence are very closely related,
to the point that some have questioned
if they could be the same thing."

Growing up we had a young tree in a pot indoors, on the window,
for 2 years the new branches reached the top of the window frame and died off,
from the 3rd year onward the tree sent it's new branches out from
lower down it's trunk and never sent branches to the top again,
therefore avoiding having to kill them off as it did in the other 2 years.
We concluded that the tree remembered and

therefore had memory,
consider the age that trees can live to and
that they, and other plant life, may retain memories.

How Our Stone Age Bodies Struggle To Stay Healthy In Modern Times

How Our Stone Age Bodies Struggle To Stay Healthy In Modern Times | Bushcraft | Scoop.it

PerhapsIn The Story of the Human Body, evolutionary biologist Daniel Lieberman explains how our bodies haven't adapted to modern conditions. The result is "mismatch diseases" — ailments that occur because our bodies weren't designed for the environments in which we now live.

Owen Budd's insight:

We often like to think we have advanced in body and mind well past our stone-age ancestors, but medicine seems to remind us that we haven't come that far yet…
