I found this article actually on Scoop.it. I guess one of the few mildly inconvenient things about SI is that when you see a post served up to you as something you might want to curate, you really have no way of knowing until you read it.
Personally, I prefer not to 'scoop' things unless I really think they're interesting but, on the other hand, I'd be more than happy to give credit to the person who originally scooped it. But it's not easy to do on Scoop.it.
Anyway....here it is. Anything about LinkedIn is worth at least reviewing. This would also be a great article to 'spin'....like, if you've got some kind of blog of your own.

Late last week Klout announced its intent to empower its users with the ability to view and share curated content that is custom-tailored according to the social graph of the user and the user’s audience. This is a throwback to early last year when LinkedIn actually did something similar — when its content was still useful. However, since curation is based on an individual user’s social graph and what actually resonates with their audience, this looks to be potentially better.
Klout describes it this way:
“The ‘Create’ tab helps you find great articles and posts worth sharing with your audience. Unlike most apps that suggest content for your personal consumption, Klout intelligently recommends content that will strike a chord with your unique set of friends, fans and followers. Helpful tags highlight fresh content that is starting to trend as well as items that closely match the interests of your audience members and are likely to resonate with them.”
Interesting news. I've gotten the impression that LI is getting a big case of the 'stuck-ups' with the way they've been treating their customers lately. I do know that Klout is an easy to use site....even if I never was certain that it had any real benefit.
I do think this is BIG but...I also don't think it's any surprise. It's been pretty obvious that this is the way that the internet was evolving.
Considering that one of the fundamental essences of the internet is that it's just a way of connecting 2 or more humans, it only makes sense that anything people can do together (intellectually anyway) should be able to be done on the internet.
This obviously includes teaching. After all, all teaching is is the human equivalent of 'data transfer', right? One of the biggest limitations has been the size of the screens that people have in their computer set-ups and also the strength of their video connections.
I'm thinking especially of how improvements in these two factors (screen size and band width) relate to teaching things like dancing. This sales pages mentions somebody using Google HelpOuts to teach Yoga but, in my view, that's somewhat similar.
But I'll guarantee you that there's going to be gold rush of people getting into using this kind of technology to teach and consult. For one thing, I think that if a person could really learn this....it's going to creat a boatload of opportunity for language teachers (especially when you incorporate the multiple participant features of Google Hangouts).
This kind of technology is going to radically effect the 'seminar' business too. I suspect that to really 'max' it out, a person will need to incorporate Google+ (and various Google+ "Pages"), and know a little bit about SEO.
And probably, in using HelpOuts to market, it would also be a good idea to incorporate YouTube and some astute video SEO too.
But anyway you slice it, I think the opportunities presented by Goodle HelpOuts, and the way of thinking that goes along with it, are awesome. I've got this product on my 'buy soon' list.

I sense that this is a uniquely valuable bit of advice. Google Authorship has a lot of marketing value (and some ego value too) but I always thought it involved some tinkering with WP 'code' that I wasn't confident in doing.

One way to begin gauging how a culture handles negative feedback is by listening to the types of words people use. More direct cultures tend to use what linguists call upgraders, words preceding or following negative feedback that make it feel stronger, such as absolutely, totally, or strongly: “This is absolutely inappropriate,” or “This is totally unprofessional.”
By contrast, more indirect cultures use more downgraders, words that soften the criticism, such askind of, sort of, a little, a bit, maybe, and slightly. I really have a lot of empathy with this guy even though I've had good service from GoDaddy myself in the past. YouTube and Google.....in my book, they're the bastards that you can't deal with. They won't even 'talk' to you like a real person.
Images is a definately a subject that any blogger should take seriously. Considering that one can get in trouble by using the wrong ones AND that getting good ones really doesn't have to cost anything, it just doesn't make sense to take one's image selection haphazardly.
Somewhat akin to the 'audit' idea. I love these kind of sites. It's amazing how many business people don't know that sites like this exist. I'd be willing to be that if you wanted to go after a particular customer, you could 'scrape' the info from this site, give it to them for free and watch their jaw drop.
