You know... I REALLY have a hard time feeling friendly toward Google.  Or YouTube, for that matter.  They're both arrogant as the day is long.  I mean, where else would any sane person do business with somebody where you couldn't even talk directly to a manger...let alone the 'owner'.

 

They get all pissy and and toss people off of their platforms with virtually zero recourse at all while at the same time giving the government any and all information they want while ALSO taking our information and using it either (a) for their own purposes and/or (b) against us.

 

That's good service?

 

I recall hearing that Google+ is changing into another animal now that the original founder has departed.  That's the way these guys do it.  They're digital 'pushers'.... get you hooked and then raise the price.

Now I know...and so do you. The answer is really pretty logical once you see it in these examples.

This was an interesting article because, as the article points out, it's one of those 'it depends' answers. Luckily, there is an 'in between' answer based on the fact that many routers today do have a wireless and ethernet option (did I say that right?).

 

But.... I think it's a non-issue for most people when one considers that both options are so much better than they were must a few years (if not months) ago....and most people were perfectly happy back then.

 

For a business owner wanting to attract customers, wifi is obviously the way to go not only for the convenience of their customers (i.e. assuming they offer wifi 'hot spots') but also because they're not really under any obligation to provide security (of ethernet) to thier customers.

 

Personally, I'd chose ethernet for my home because I think it is LESS susceptible to CIA/NSA hacking.. although I'm sure there are ways, if they wanted to, that 'they' could hack your system even if it is hard-wired.

I'm glad to see, in the last few months, that Paul Joseph Watson (the commentator here) is getting more outspoken on the ridiculous political correctness and hypocrisy of the media and most of corporate America.

 

What he says here, about the absurdity of the "Black Lives Matter" fake movement is a good example of the latest outrage that illustrates who 'big money' is trying to manipulate public opinion on our society. It's well worth watching because it includes a lot more information than just this absolutely stupid Starbucks effort to lay a guilt trip on white people.

 

If I was in a Starbucks (which I tend to not do because I can't see paying $5 for something worth $1) and one of those little preppies in there tried to give me a cup with that PC crap on it....I'd tell him/her where they could shove it.

Some of my 7 readers will remember that song, "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" by Paul Simon, right? In that song, he says that basically that when you realize the love affair is over, you just use the Alexander The Great Approach (when he 'solved' the Gordian Knot' puzzle)... you just leave.

 

And that's what a lot of former US 'allies' are doing. They're not saying, 'goodbye', or 'I'm sorry it didn't work out', or 'this hurts me more than it does you', or anything. They're just leaving...in a financial sense.

 

Good ol' Uncle Sam is going wake up some day real soon and his ass is going to be all alone in bed and there's not going to be anybody else coming to buy his 'stuff' because he doesn't make 'stuff' any more. And there's not going to be anybody coming to change their money into his money because they don't need his worthless, crappy, blood-soaked money any more.

 

It's happening here as described in this article. More of our former so-called 'partners' are silently but resolutely packing their bags and getting ready to 'Hit the road, Jack!'

 

They're tired of dealing with our corrupt politicians. They're tired of our government thinking that we own the world. They're tired of us thinking we can tell the world how to live.

 

I'm not saying that I think they've got a 'better way'. In most cases they don't. But they've just got better leadership for the time being and we really don't have anything they need anymore.

Nice info. I write for an MLM magazine and I'm going to spin this as a series. MLM'ers typically sit back and let their companies do everything for them (i.e. on the manner of tools). But in fact, most MLM company's tools suck BIG time.

 

They talk a lot about being hi-tech but very few are in the marketing sense. The big money earners are the ones who are pro-active and build their own systems. This info is stuff they could use. Most of them have no idea the incredible bounty of free-stuff that's out there.

Again, this is probably something MLM'ers should pay attention to. Most MLM companies talk a good game about giving their distributors training and tools to take advantage of the consumers growing comfort and preference for online shopping... but few companies actually 'walk the walk'.

 

However, some companies do AND just because a company does not do so it doesn't preclude the distributor for doing it to some degree on their own. There are ways MLM distributors can make their own simply websites (with coupons) and of course there's ways they can acquire and use coupons from their own FB pages.

You know, it's amazing what you discover or realize when you look at the profit motive for doing things...i.e. the reasons other people do things.

 

I'm not saying there's anything bad about making money... or even that there's anything nefarious about being creative about ways to make money.... or even that there's anything bad about being less than totally candid about the reasons you do things. Sometimes it's just not relevant. . 

 

But sometimes when you look 'under the hood' and find a squirrel in a rotating cage instead of the throbbing engine that you expected, you can really have your 'reverence' shattered.

 

In this case it's "The Stevies". I think it's actually kind of funny.

 

I was writing (another) article about an MLM company tonight that got a Stevie Award. I'd written about other MLM companies that had gotten Stevies too but this was a new 'order' I'd received.

 

In the process of doing some more research to add some 'beef' to my article, I found that 'The Stevies" is a BIG operation and by looking just a little deeper (i.e. Wikipedia and Google) I discovered that they probably make a LOT of money doing what they do.


So...you may ask, "Gee Art...what do they do?

 

Their deal is that they have bunches and bunches of categories of awards, open to companies and individuals from all over the world. And, as I understand it, they charge for entrants and/or nominations (I'm not totally clear on whether it's both or one or the other)... as much as $500 each. Then they charge to attend the award ceremonies (which I think is certainly fair). They might even charge to be a 'judge' but I sorta doubt that that would 'fly'. 

 

Point is...they monetize the crap out their brand. This guy Paul Gallagher who started 'The Stevies' back in 2002, when they were originally called 'The American Business Awards', must have been a pretty sharp cookie. I don't know if he's still alive. I would think so.

 

And I'm not being critical.... more power to'em if they can pull it off. But just look through this website and imagine all the money that's generated from all these awards, and these dinners, and all these tickets to people attending these ceremonies, and all these hotel accommodations, and (maybe)  all these media reproduction rights, etc., etc. 

 

Wow!...I must say it's pretty darn slick!! They ought to get a Stevie themselves :-) for 'creating value'.

What could an article on this subject be EXCEPT extremely valuable. The majority of people mistakenly think that logos are ONLY something you put on the header of a website. 

 

But that's far from the truth. There are a lot more creative uses for logo/graphic tools. For example, they're great for using in the headers or for specific articles or other content.

I recently decided that I wanted to run a 'Content Generation Special' for new customers in my free-lance writing business. But I first needed to know what the 'sweet spot', in number of words, was for various types of content.

 

I already had some ideas what those numbers would be. I knew they would vary depending on with the type of content, i.e. Facebook content, Twitter content, Video optimization, blog articles, Case Studies, White Papers, etc. but I thought I should do some research to make a truly fair offer. 

 

First, I Googled the general phrase, "ideal length for online content".

 

One of the articles that came up very highly ranked was this one I'm curating here, from bufferapp.com (which also happens to be a very highly esteemed social media tool). I did a couple other variations of that search term and they generally tended to have similar information.

 

From that research I've read I've reached one conclusion: The answer is: "It depends."

 

No, that's not a 'cop-out'. It really does depend because there are two things you should keep in mind.  

 

First of all: Google does like longer content because they're in the information business. You usually (but not always) should keep Google happy if you want your content to rank highly.

 

Second: It depends on the purpose of your content. Very tightly focused content needs enough length to present and then solve a problem. 

 

On the other hand, other web content, e.g. social media posts, can be effective even if it's more general in nature, i.e. 'edu-tainment' type content.

 

Shorter content can still be entertaining and help build brand loyalty if it's done well but two facts are clear:

 

1. People are busier than ever nowadays therefore they simply don't have (or take) the time to read like they used to.

 

2. The general reading level is going down... therefore people aren't able to read as well or fast as they used to be able to.

 

While many studies show that the optimal article length in some situations is around 1000 to 1500 words (depending on what study you read), there are many web content writers who remain adamant that 350 - 500 words is an ideal article length.

 

Generally speaking, the more academic or technical content is or the more problem AND solution it is...the longer it is. The more entertaining or 'social' it is...the shorter the writing can be.

 

The 'in-between' situation is that problem-focused content can be shorter if it has a strong call-to-action to click a link to another page which is part of the sales process. If a reader is NOT specifically reading to find a solution to a problem they will (usually) be less likely to read longer articles.

 

An exception would be an instance where the article is entertaining in some fashion AND it is very well-written. Some people can write like that.

 

Seth Godin, well-known American author, entrepreneur, marketer, and public speaker, is notorious for writing ultra-short posts and articles. Seth is an example of a good thinker who can write as well as he thinks. He expresses himself very well and usually doesn't need a lot of words.

 

If you noticed the graphic on the top of this article, you noticed that BuzzApp says that the optimal article length is 1600 words. I tend to disagree with that. At least, not the kind of article the average small businessperson needs.

 

I can't believe the average chiropractor, hardware store owner, dog breeder, attorney, personal trainer, dance studio owner, professional photographer, remote IT support specialist, et.al. requires length articles.

 

Most of their customers don't have time to read a 1600 word article. In my opinion, the kind of content that most small business owners need is more in the vicinity of 300 to 400 words.

 

Such content should consist of an Intro, a couple of key points with some examples or elaboration, a summary, and a call-to-action (i.e. CTA).

 

That's it.

 

Which brings me to MY point:

 

The best content is content that engages the reader (you're still here...right?). If you're still here, that means I have 'engaged' you. That's the kind of content I write.

 

My writing style maybe isn't for everybody but if you Google "WanderingSalsero" or "InforwarsTrooper" you'll find examples of my writing on a wide variety of subject going all the back to September, 2003.

 

Yeah, I've taken a few courses in the past (and I continue to study and observe) but I don't just talk about writing. I've been doing it compulsively for almost 12 years now.

 

I'm actually a full-time writer now...for an online magazine in the Direct Selling and Multilevel Marketing business. But that doesn't take much time and what I'd like to do is add another couple of clients, on a monthly contract, wherein I would write 5 pieces of content for them (for their blog or social media platform) every week for a very affordable price.

 

I could probably write about almost anything.

 

Busy business people know that their time is better utilized 'doing' their business rather than writing about it. But they also know that they don't have the time (or the inclination) to generate all the content they need themselves.

 

It's a fact that 'content mills' (i.e. online shops that employ very low-paid, struggling writers who are frequently not native-English speakers) where you get articles written 'for cheap' are dying.

 

They're dying for two reasons.

 

First, they're dying because Google can recognize that kind of content and Google knows that people don't read it therefore Google doesn't like to rank it because they can't sell advertising on sites that people don't stay on for very long (it's called 'bounce rate').

 

The reason people don't stay on those sites or read articles like that is because the content is very seldom well-written. The writers can't speak well in English therefore they also can't write well in English.

 

Me...?

 

Most people tell me I do pretty well in getting my point across and engaging the reader. Imagine if I had a working relationship with YOU and, over a period of time imagine if I got to know you, your brand's 'voice', and your market and wrote about it every day (i.e. 5 to 6 days a week).

 

What do you think content like that would do for your blog, your social media content, and your sales or brand awareness? Would one piece of good content a day be worth a very affordable rate...considerably less that the going rate for '-brank' writers?

 

If your answer is 'yes', then I've got an idea in mind that I'd like to discuss with you. And it's such a bargain that I can only afford to do it for two clients.

 

Why am I doing it?

 

To build my portfolio....it's that simple.  Good writers (like me) typically get a minimum of $50+ per blog post. Often as much as $100 or more.

Here's a golden tip in 'how to write articles' for your website.

 

See this webpage? It's a bunch of different articles, right?

 

But they all point toward the same point....right? Specifically, that English language proficiency is a necessity in today's global marketplace.

 

So.....how could you use this one webpage (or any page similar to it) to write an article?

 

Easy....take each of these article, summarize it into 2 - 4 sentances, turn each of those groups of sentences into a pagegraph.

 

BAM! 

 

There's your article. just remember that 99.99% of everything you think is new...it's not. Somebody else heard it from somebody else. Just because words have been recycled, rearranged, re-phrased...doesn't mean that YOUR customers won't find them interesting.

I think this has uses far beyond education but I suspect most business people wouldn't pay for it. It might be a good tool for an agency to try out....i.e. to sell to businesses (depending upon license costs).

This whole thing with N.Korea has been mis-handled since the Korean War and it has been even more convoluted because our governments have lied to us about their foreign policy motivations.

 

This current thing, about the movie, I still think the US was behind it. Obola needed it for a distraction. Notice that now, once again, they're milking the Ukrainian/Russian issue for all it's worth.

 

I think it's entirely plausible that they're trying to taunt and pressure Russia into a proxy war either in the middle east and/or in Ukraine, coupled with trying to squeeze their economy. And I don't think they'd even be disappointed to create a real war...like with some bombs and attacks on expendable targets. They need it for their industrialist, NWO donors.

I don't know this guy. I DO know a couple guys with the first name of 'Justin' but when I say this guy's email, I wondered if it was spam. But I'm glad I looked at it because (1) I do know the value of viral traffic and (2) I do understand curation.

 

I'm also impressed with this guy because he comes across as polite. I'm getting more than a bit jaded and typical 'internet marketers' who don't know me/you 'from Adam' but they seem to been it's OK to address everybody as 'Hey Guys'....i.e. like we're their bowling team or something. That kinda pisses me off.

 

And Justin here does have a nice voice and a sincere, quiet confidence. I don't think I even know what his product costs but I'm definitely going to bookmark it and probably get it.

 

P.S. You'll learn something by watching his video too. I made some notes I intend to follow up.
