In this video interview, Curator of Education Megan DiRienzo describes the Center for Creative Energy, a partnership among the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the Upper Colorado River Authority, and the local school district. It’s a three-tiered project that teaches art to elementary school children by focusing on the topic of water, an issue of special importance to the San Angelo area.
We’re big fans of IdeaPaint, a special kind of paint that can turn anything into a dry-erase writing surface (you can read more about it here). When you combine IdeaPaint’s ability turn any wall or surface into a canvas and Evernote’s ability to capture, archive and make that surface searchable, the possibilities for turning any room into an interactive environment are endless. These two products come together in a particularly exciting way in a classroom environment, which can become a more creative and engaging place to learn.
We Americans already know how fat we are. Can it get much worse? Apparently, yes, according to an advocacy group that predicts that by 2030 more than half the people in the vast majority of states will be obese.
Sitting there, being attacked by a close friend, was not a good feeling. Doubt crept into my heart. Was I being selfish, greedy, insensitive? I couldn’t articulate why the job was so important to me, why I wanted to move up, why I couldn’t just be happy for my husband and children and learn to live with what I have. I agreed with her that we in part the author our own happiness, but I couldn’t remember why I wasn’t able to do that here. I felt ashamed, embarrassed, but also hurt. Hurt that my friend couldn’t recognize or understand why I was upset, or muster any sympathy for me.
More than three years before their arrests for allegedly locking their son in a room with little food, Paul and Sheila Comer were investigated for possible abuse, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution learned Wednesday.
I wanted it to be a follow-up or sequel to Think Like a Startup. That paper resonated with a lot of people, so my working title was “operate like an R&D lab.” I took the section about assessment and gave it it’s own platform. I even used the same telescope metaphor to connect the way of thinking. I wanted to be provocative. The conference tagline is “Building Effective, Sustainable, Practical Assessment” and I wanted to challenge that. I feel in an era of disruptive change we need assessment to be discovery-oriented, discontinuous, and growth-driven.
Ever wanted to paint your own whiteboard calendar? IdeaPaint's whiteboard paint turns any classroom surface into a dry erase canvas, giving teachers and students space to collaborate, interact, and learn.
If you are one of the bajillion people who have downloaded iOS 6 since it became available last week and are furious/frustrated with Apple for doing away with the Google Maps app in lieu of it's own less-than-ideal brand new Apple Maps app, there...
Sorry, no, this is not a food-related post (and I did not misspell "pie," either, by the way). I just purchased a Raspberry Pi, an inexpensive ($35) computer. Not from a guy in a back alley based on a suspicious Craig's list ad, but from an organization that is sparking an interest in DIY computing that resembles the early 1980s when TRS-80s, Commodore 64s, and early Apples initiated the rise of the home computer.
