It all started when Springsteen saw Elvis Presley perform in Philadelphia in May of ’77. Springsteen decided that night that he was going to write a song for The King. Over the next few months, he wrote and recorded a song called “Fire”. When it was done, he sent a copy of the demo to Elvis. But it arrived just a day or two after he died, on August 16th, 1977.
Shawn Colvin is a talented songwriter in her own right, with a list of credits that includes her Grammy-winning hit single “Sunny Came Home,” but on her new album Uncovered, she’s paying tribute to songs other artists made famous — among them a handful of rock classics that includes pages from the songbooks of Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty and Paul Simon.
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (September 1, 2015) Monmouth University’s Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the opening of a new gallery exhibit Bruce Springsteen: A Photographic Journey taking place on the first floor of Rechnitz Hall’s DiMattio Gallery from September 8 through December 22. The exhibition was curated by the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE and features 45 iconic images of Bruce Springsteen. The opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Sunday, September 27 from 1 to 4 pm.
