Bronchitis

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes. When a person has bronchitis, it may be harder for air to pass in and out of the lungs.
Lauren Skriver's insight:

Overview:

Bronchitis is a disorder that causes the bronchi to become inflamed and filled with mucus. There are two types of bronchitis; acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is the short term disorder that is caused by a bacterial infection, and it can be easily cured with antibodies. Chronic bronchitis is the long term disorder can be caused by smoking. Because the cilia is destroyed, there is no cure. The bronchi will become more inflammed and infected.

Symptoms:

With acute bronchitis some symptoms will include coughing bringing up mucus, the chills, shortness of breaths, and generally feeling ill. With chronic bronchitis some symptoms will include the same as acute, but the symptoms will last for a much longer time period. Your breathing will increase in difficulty and will cause pain.

Prevention:

To fight against acute bronchitis, the doctor will advise you to drink lots of fluids, get tons of rest, and offer you over-the-counter medication for your coughing. To prevent from catching acute bronchitis, wash your hands whenever you can, to prevent spreading of viruses and diseases. To fight off chronic bronchitis, the doctor will advise you to stop smoking to reduce the exposure to what is irritating your lungs. To prevent from catching chronic bronchitis, do not smoke! Also stay away from second-hand smoking, and gets alot of rest and eat right.

Interesting Facts:

-----People who smoke have a higher chance of never getting rid of acute bronchitis and other respiratory infections.

-----Also smokers mucus can multiply and grow to making much more mucus to get out.......ew.
