NAB VP of Spectrum Policy and former FCC Chief of Technical Analysis BOB WELLER is weighing in on the FCC's proposed cutbacks in field offices, posting on the NAB's Policy Blog that Chairman TOM WHEELER's plan "effectively leaves the FCC in the dark."

Thanks to reporters David Hall and Marguerite Reardon for this explanation of the FCC's stand on Net Neutrality.  Basicly, Net Neutrality means that all Internet Traffic should be treated equally.  In sum, there will be no blocking, no throttling, or no paid prioritization.  As expected, media conglomerates oppose this far-sighted plan decision.  There's a point where greed and outright power should stop.  This is that point.  Aloha, Russ.

Thanks to reporter David Hall  and CNET's Marguerite Reardon for figuring out the basics of this 400-page federal document.  In sum, the FCC regulation states that the Internet should be open to all citizens, that there should be no "throttling" of Internet speeds, and that no prioritization be given to media conglomerates.  Of course, media companies who seek to make money from a "two-stream" Internet system won't like the FCC decision.  It's time for greed and domination of the Internet by only  a few "well-healed" companies to take a back seat to better service, redundancy, and reasonable prices. Thanks to reporter David Hall and Amateur Radio operator N2CUA for this enlightening tutorial.  Although I don't own a Rigol DSA - 815 spectrum analyzer, I was intrigued by the many things you can do with this test instrument, including determining proper cable length.  Certainly simplifies things when you need a matching section or some other coaxial cable application.  It appears my Christmas Wish List is getting bigger.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).

In Basel, Switzerland, Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman accidentally went on a trip. Working as a pharmaceutical researcher, Hoffman accidentally consumed a large dose of LSD on April 16, 1943. Hoffman first synthesized LSD to obtain a respiratory and circulatory stimulant. While synthesizing, Hoffman accidentally absorbed a small quantity of LSD through his fingertips. Hoffman said his experiences were like being in a dreamlike state.

Sorry, folks, no sympathy from my side of the pond.  The FCC rules and regulations are clear on this issue.  If station management wanted to air this type of program, they could have bought space on a cable tv system or leased time on a satellite network like shock jock Howard Stern does.  There is no excuse for this.  How about revoking the station's license or giving the license to a more responsible company?  This is just another indication of just how crude and rude our society has become.  Aloha, Russ (KH6JRM).

Thanks to reporter David Hall for this post.  Video tutorials such as these make difficult concepts a bit simpler.  I had to stop the videos at times, so I could digest the terminology and ideas presented.  By going at my own pace, I was able to absorb quite a bit of useful information.  If I need a refresher, all I have to do is "cue up" the appropriate program and watch.  Good stuff!  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).

Thanks to reporter David Hall and the folks at http://www.news.sciencemag.org for this intriguing idea.  Not since the days of "MacGyver" and "Scotty" on board the U.S.S Enterprise of Star Trek fame have we had a series that showed engineers in a highlighter role in a film or tv series.  Of course, there was the supporting role of ham radio in the movie "Contact", but what is need now, according to The United Engineering Foundation, is a role suitable for a female engineer.  The goal of the contest is to get a finished script turned into a tv or movie pilot by this year.  The deadline to enter script ideas is 17 April 2015.  Let's see if a CSI-Engineer program hits the airwaves.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JEM).
