RED - squabble with city over graffiti on utility building leads to this humorous outcome

A British lad found himself in a squabble with the authorities over graffiti on a small utility building near his home. Thankfully, he photographed the wall in question during the squabble providing this humorous (and wildly artistic) record of the city’s response. http://geekslop.com/2016/red-squabble-city-graffiti-utility-building-funny

How to defend against a car bomb - all about car bombs and how to protect yourself from their deadly blasts | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
Car bombs are a commonly used weapon for assassinations, terrorism, or guerrilla warfare. They are easy to hide, cheap to construct, and leave behind little forensic evidence. In addition, the gasoline in the automobile’s fuel tanks magnify the force of the explosion. Here’s how to protect yourself from their deadly blasts. http://wildernessarena.com/urban-survival-2/urban-hostile-areas/how-to-defend-against-car-bomb-all-about-car-bombs-how-to-protect-yourself-deadly-blasts

We have ISIS's secret internal administrative plans - and man, are they a doozy | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
The following was purportedly leaked from an ISIS administrator to researcher Aymenn al-Tamimi who passed the document to The Guardian. Despite relatively immature prose that looks like it was written in crayon, the document was published in several sources. Various English translations are floating around the web and I took the clearest of each to build a better translation below. http://geekslop.com/2015/isis-islamic-state-internal-administrative-plans-translated

Guns, violence, and mass shootings in America - the real reason behind U.S. (perceived) shooting epidemic | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
Naturally, when a mass shooting occurs and the media bombards the public with anti-gun rhetoric, we become concerned and inherently wonder, “Would the country be safer if gun ownership was restricted – or more tightly controlled?” Contrary to what we are often told, guns have no bearing on the level of violence in a society. http://wildernessarena.com/survival-news/guns-violence-in-america-truth-government-officials-do-not-want-you-to-know

Windows 10 - rough around the edges but the future looks bright! | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
Gotta give props to Microsoft – they did well with Windows 10 both in terms of the design and implementation of the OS and especially the unique rollout via Windows update. I’s obvious that Win10 is going to be a spectacular OS in the future. Why are my comments so forward looking? Because Windows 10, in its initial iteration, is pretty rough around the edges. http://geekslop.com/2015/windows-10-rough-around-edges-but-future-for-microsoft-windows-looks-bright

The United States is outsourcing its Cyberspace (Cyber Command) Operations - really? | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
It’s a draft title Task Order Request for Cyberspace Operations Support Services in support of United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM). Oh, brother. That means the U.S. has bungled their cybersecurity so badly they’re now willing to outsource, and trust, this critical national security task to an outside contractor. Even a partner outside of the U.S. if they’re trusted status. http://geekslop.com/2015/united-states-is-outsourcing-cyberspace-cyber-command-operations

Interesting geographic attack vector from a Russian launched cyber counter-attack

Interesting geographic attack vector from a Russian launched cyber counter-attack | Brian's Science and Technology | Scoop.it
I love the Russians. I know, strange to hear that from an American in modern day with a new “cold war” (seemingly) beginning to gain steam. Let’s say, I respect them. Their hackers in particular. Their response to a cyberattack is to launch a full-on offensive attack against the attacker, quite a different response from the Chinese who tend to just block attackers, or the Americans, who never even notice an attack is taking place. http://geekslop.com/2015/geographic-attack-vector-from-russian-cyber-counter-attack
