Black bears are highly dexterous, being capable of opening screw-top jars and manipulating door latches. They are very strong with recorded cases of a black bear turning over 300 pound rocks with a single foreleg. They can run up to 25-30 mph, have excellent eyesight, and a sense of smell about seven times greater than a dog’s. They are also very good swimmers and unlike brown bears, are excellent climbers. http://wildernessarena.com/skills/tracking-and-signs/how-to-identify-black-bear-tracks-signs
utlaw motorcycle clubs, also known as one percenters, are biker gangs that are considered “outlaw” because they are not sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and do not adhere to their rules. Instead, one percenter clubs have their own set of bylaws which may or may not condone illegal activities. Regardless of their bylaws, their 1% status reflects an outlaw sense of pride. http://geekslop.com/2015/outlaw-motorcycle-clubs-one-percenter-bike-gang-patches
The Doof Machine (aka Doof Wagon) rig was constructed from a retired military rocket launching truck to which they added a supercharged V8, six Taiko drums channeling sound from the rear through huge air conditioning ducts, a small lit stage fronted with a car grill, a huge stack of speakers (there’s over 100 working speakers on the Doof Wagon rig) and a red-onesy-suited blind guitar player hammering chords on a custom flame-throwing dual-neck guitar while dangling from bungee-cords and chains. Yes, George Miller created Mad Max: Fury Road’s flame throwing guitar/drum rig wasn’t CGI –it’s the real thing. http://geekslop.com/2015/mad-max-fury-road-flame-throwing-guitar-player-coma-doof-warrior-doof-wagon
Tracks and signs (collectively termed “spoor” by trackers) include any kind of mark or disturbance left by the passing or activity of an animal or person. Because anything that touches an object leaves a trace, tracks and signs can be found everywhere and with knowledge and practice, you can learn how to track and find any animal or person by the traces they leave behind. Tracking animals is both a science and an art. http://wildernessarena.com/overviews/animal-tracking-signs-guide
This cocktail guide was created by an engineer for the US Forest Service in 1974 (I’m not sure why that agency would create such an elaborate document about mixed drinks). It features various drink recipes, in a single printable page, drawn in (and to) engineer-like specifications. It’s surprisingly useful. http://geekslop.com/2015/alcohol-cocktail-drink-guide

Red Star OS, North Korea’s official Red Hat-based Linux distro, is very easy to install in a VM. Given recent revelations of its many security holes, it’s an excellent opportunity to install the operating system in a local VM and then pound it for vulnerability assessment. At the very least, this will let you derive a baseline vulnerability footprint irrespective of any firewalls or security protection devices that a real North Korean target may be running. http://geekslop.com/2015/installing-north-koreas-official-red-star-3-0-server-operating-system

White-tailed deer are native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America. White-tail deer have also been introduced to New Zealand, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Bahamas, Lesser Antilles, and some countries in Europe, such as Finland, the Czech Republic, and Serbia. In North America, they are widely distributed east of the Rocky Mountains (elsewhere they have been mostly replaced by black-tailed or mule deer). http://wildernessarena.com/skills/tracking-and-signs/how-to-identify-white-tailed-deer-tracks-and-signs
Many find federal military personnel operating covertly in American cities throughout the southwest USA alarming and cite plenty of reasons to suspect there is more to the Jade Helm operation than meets the eye. Some believe Jade Helm is a dry run, practice for a suspected collapse, uprising, or civil war that would require the implementation of martial law. Others believe the operation is preparing the U.S. military for a major terrorist ground assault on the United States. Here are the facts. http://wildernessarena.com/survival-news/jade-helm-15-military-operation-historic-military-drill-conducted-on-civilian-soil
There are basically two types of bone fractures: open and closed. With an open (or compound) fracture, the bone protrudes through the skin and complicates the actual fracture with an open wound. You should splint the injured area and continually monitor blood flow past the injury and only reposition the break if there is no blood flow. The closed fracture has no open wounds. Follow the guidelines for immobilization and splint the fracture. http://wildernessarena.com/skills/first-aid-health-and-first-aid/treating-broken-bones
Always light your fire from the upwind side. Make sure you lay the tinder, kindling, and fuel so that your fire will burn as long as you need it. Igniters provide the initial heat required to start the tinder burning. They fall into two categories: modern methods and primitive methods. http://wildernessarena.com/food-water-shelter/firecraft/lighting-a-fire

Hole-in-one golf shots are always entertaining but this one is particularly stunning. Watch as Australian golfer Richard Green tees off on the par-four 15th hole and shanks it right into a sand bunker before turning away in disgust. The ball disappears into the bunker and then as if by magic, spits right back out (at a near right angle) and rolls into the hole. http://geekslop.com/2015/amazing-hole-in-one-golf-shot-into-sand-bunker-trap
