Photographing Iconic Landmarks

Photographing Iconic Landmarks | 2016 Rio Summer Games | Scoop.it
Oh, Machu Picchu, ancient city of the Incas, pride of Peru, must-see travel destination: You've never been so appropriately photobombed by a llama.

Via Seth Dixon
Michael Eiseman's insight:

#LlamaHam we at www.viptourgroup.com have about 20 pictures of Llamas that are pretty photogenic. I have one that was stuck in a split tree on purpose in Salta Argentina.  Seems they have personality! and want to get a few bucks now for a photo. #paytoplay hipsters.

Machu Picchu is a tourist attraction to say the least. People love going on adventures to ancient ruins and such. This would be a great place of historical cultivation for many people to see.

James Hobson's curator insight, September 29, 2014 10:23 PM

(South America topic 4)

Aside from the fact that I find this to be the funniest thing I've seen all week, I honestly think that this and other relevant cultural 'photobombs' would make an excellent marketing strategy for promoting tourism. Many people (including myself) can forget the wide array of sites to see when visiting any particular location. The mountains of Peru aren't just home to ancient ruins; they also are the home of llamas (including this one with a nice sense of humor!). Reminders of the additional things to see such as llamas in this example may be the deciding factor in choosing a vacation destination, which translates into which places get the tourism business.

Samuel D'Amore's curator insight, December 14, 2014 6:59 PM

While humorous these pictures really show that certain areas and regions are often imagined by a set and specific image. When Machu Picchu is thought of it is always seen from the same peak, making this an incredibly popular photo spot for tourists, or in this case a llama.

We at www.viptourgroup.com think this is great. Brazil is a huge market and advertising there is very respected and effective. I am wondering if they allow outdoor ads still in Sao Paulo they banned it years back.

Fifa Secretary General Jerome Valcke recently declared that Brazil’s preparations for the 2014 World Cupare moving at ‘cruise control.’ This is apparently a compliment, not a criticism. This is, however, the same man who a few months earlier said that the country needed a ‘kick up the backside.’ A comment that didn’t go down very well in Brazil.

Mark Sheldon's curator insight, April 17, 2014 11:37 AM

Brazil had no competition for the FIFA 2014 World Cup, and they've taken criticism for not mobilizing for preparation fast enough. While government officials remain steadfast that they will finish preparations in time, critics are less certain. In my opinion, Brazil has a large enough economy that it should be able to finish preparations through brute economic power should the deadline loom too close for their comfort.

Brazil will be ready!  I just got back from the 6 largest cities and all are done and already hosting games leading up. Recife and Rio Look fantastic!  #Qatar I think 900 people dying while building it at this early stage would make Fifa's mind up already. Its pushed under the rug?  We still have lots of Tickets, Hotels and Guides for the #BrazilWorldCup at www.brazilworldcuppackage.com

he Fifa World Cup 2014 in Brazil has its issues – there are concerns that the stadiums and infrastructure won’t be finished, and that certain sections of Brazil’s population will be negatively affected by all that hosting the World Cup involves.
Jose's curator insight, March 20, 2014 1:07 PM

When reading this article it is amazing how Brazil decided to build new stadiums for the FIFA Wold cup. Instead of helping their economy prosper, they have decided ti spend millions of dollars building new infrastructures and making bigger stadiums in order to attract tourists and allow for more money to come into their nation. I do not know exactly how to feel but i do know that they did not have to take this approach. Gives me second thoughts of whether or not they will be making their money back from all the stadiums they have built.
