very valid point Sian about colours defining a mood and emotional state because I think as humans we get attracted to colourful things, and if marketers of brands get their colour scheme right, they will definitely have a direct response from their consumer. I agree with the article where it says how colour "creates mental associations to the meaning of your brand within the context of the world it lives in", when I think of yellow I think of the McDonald arches, I also think of AA, Pak 'n' Save. When I think of Black, I think of the All Blacks, so yeah, colours do play a big part in the way we associate with brands. I enjoyed this article and your insight.

Sian Arthur's insight:

Jana Frawley successfully explains the importance of having a good brand image when it comes to successful supermarket packaging.
Brand Image and Brand Messaging are both extremely important when it comes to supermarket packaging. Without a memorable or trusting Brand Image it will be harder to attract the attention of potential customers, and Brand Message is important especially when it comes to supermarket packaging, for example if your brand is Fair Trade approved of Free Range you are more likely to get chosen over those who are not because of your Brand Message.

Good insights Sian. I agree with your point about brand image and brand messaging. I think that its a vital part to brands especially in supermarkets that their brand image is original, relevant and interesting, I think that also goes together with brand message as the tone of the message of the product brand is perceived by consumers. brand management incorporates the 7p's and I think that in terms of this article, the 7p's of marketing is very relevant as added insights to yours Sian. Great read!

I agree with Sian's insight. brand image and brand messaging are important when they are selling products in supermarket. Brand needs to stand out, and also has to have a brand trusting image that promises to satisfy our needs. consumers are often scared to try out a new product that does not appeal and fit in to their needs. Therefore brand needs to be well packaged and to differentiate from other products.

This article was interesting and descriptive about the reasons a brand needs to put a lot of effort into the visual of a product. I did not realize how much thought was put into this process, and the reasons given in the article were all really relevant and easy to understand why they would be needed. Without attractive, visual branding on a product then it will not get chosen over other competition on a supermarket shelf. The author has done well to explain the importance of each aspect.
